Oscar bit me

I was hand feeding the oscar with the xl stick and it bit me instead of the stick. I felt its teeth even through the gloves. His an 8 inches Oscar, I had him for nearly a week now given to me for free.

Update Oscar

It's the fifth day now since they fought and got separated. One is six inches and the other is eight inches. That's their photo.

Both are eating fine actively swimming around.

So I recently bought a 6-inch Oscar from a private seller. After about a week, I sent them an update and showed how the fish was doing, and they were happy with it.

Then out of nowhere, they offered me their bigger Oscar for free since it was the last one left. Of course I said yes

I honestly thought it would go smoothly since both Oscars came from the same tank before… but I was completely wrong.

As soon as I introduced them, the smaller one started harassing the bigger Oscar—flaring, chasing, biting—and then it escalated into full-on lip locking.

It was actually pretty hard to watch. I’ve never seen fish get that aggressive before. They kept going at it for nearly an hour.

In the end, I had no choice but to separate them and move the 6-inch Oscar into my 55-gallon tank.

Both fish ended up with injuries—missing scales and some damage around the mouth, especially the bigger tiger Oscar (you can see it in the photos).

I’ve added aquarium salt, increased aeration, and did water changes in both tanks to help them recover.

Honestly, first time I’ve seen two fish go at each other like they were trying to kill each other

Just wondering, do these kinds of injuries usually heal okay, or should I be worried they’re serious?

The diy 85litre container sump is now live. Only thing is that the water level stays 1-2 inches above the overflow inlet

Submersible pump is rated 1500L/H at full blast. At the moment I reduced the flow by putting a bag clip on the flexible hose. Otherwise the tank will overflow.

Overflow siphon pipe inlet is 21.5mm PVC size.

Any suggestions to improve this. I googled it and it recommended increasing the size of the overflow pvc pipe to 32mm to keep up with the pump flow rate.

I did modified this couple of times. Putting pump top and drain siphon on bottom using the squeezer but that was bad idea, so i resort to putting the pump at the bottom.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
