Week 2 of the new tank

Stocking list as follows:

-10 Buenos Aries Tetra

-1 Yellow lab

-1 strawberry peacock

- 2 african cichlid

-1 golden albino compressicep

So far all tank mates show no signs of bullying. Was definitely worried about the compressicep but he actually spends alot of time peacefully schooling with the tetras. We will see how he ends up as he gains size with his tank mates. He has more energy than the other cichlids for sure. But all in all, everyone definitely has their own space and seems to be getting along well.

My Pseudotropheus saulosi are nearing full size and I love how they're looking these days.

Since changing their diet from purely New Life Spectrum Algaemax to Algaemax + Tetra cichlid flake the change in body shape and color has been tremendous. Clearly the tetra flake provides something they need and were not getting with the New Life food.

Unwanted oscar eggs

I have 2 Oscar’s in the same tank, not sure how old they are but they’re still only 6” so I assumed they were young. I guess they’re old enough to be sexually mature.

I don’t have the room to care for a bunch of babies, and I just don’t want more fish. How do I get rid of the eggs?

Is my Oscar fish sleeping or extremely stressed during a water change? I’m really worried.

Hi everyone,
I’m really worried about my Oscar and could use some advice.
I’ve had him for about a month, and this morning was the first time I actually took him out of the aquarium during a water change. Normally, I just siphon out the old water and add fresh water without removing him. Today, I thought it would be better to keep him in a bucket while I cleaned the tank so he wouldn’t have to sit in dirty water.
After I put him back, he started lying in an unusual position. At first, I genuinely thought he had died, and I started crying. Then I read that Oscars can sometimes lie still when they’re sleeping or when they’re extremely stressed, so now I’m not sure what’s going on.
For some context, my aquarium is very basic. It doesn’t have any plants, driftwood, rocks, or other decorations—just water and the filter/pump. I’m wondering if the lack of hiding places could be making him feel even more stressed.
I’m attaching a photo. Does this look like normal resting/sleeping behavior, or does he seem severely stressed or sick? Is there anything I can do right now to help him calm down and recover?
I really love this fish, and I’m honestly scared of losing him. Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you.

Young Tiger Oscar in 55gal grow-out tank!

He’s only been in the tank for a few hours now but this is where he’ll stay until he’s big enough to join the 125!

Perfectly contempt with keeping him by himself until he moves out but if anyone has any suggestions for fast fish that won’t be too small and could be kept with this dude I’d love to hear it!

Popeye or something else?

Sorry if too graphic, I noticed what I thought was popeye on my Severum, purchased esha2000 but had to wait for delivery next day. Isolated, started treating to correct dose, fish was upright and what I thought, stable.

Check this morning and it’s on its side, passed.

Is it a trauma injury, or another infection or just it was too far gone?

Water parameters in main tank for Ammonia Nitrate and Nitrate all perfect and not strip tested.

It was over 30 degrees here and the tank temp warmed up, and there was more aggression in the tank, also red parrots paired up and laid eggs.

They’re the only variables I can think of.

Tank mates are Chocolate Cichlid, 2 Red Parrots, 5 Geo’s, 2 other Severums and a juvenile Nicaraguan.

How Much Aggression is Too Much

I currently have a 75 gal with a Penn-Plax 1200 Canister, about 30 malawi cichlid (18 of which are big enough to keep track of) and teeny tiny mbuna fry that I can’t keep track of so not sure on exact numbers. I rescued them about 3 three weeks ago and just added two new fish yesterday with them after rearranging their coral hardscape and darkening the tank for a while. I added a dragonblood peacock and a polar blue convict.

I hadn’t realized that the blue polar wouldn’t be a good fit for the tank and because he was kept in a tank with Malawi cichlids I had assumed he’d be okay and the fish guy said it was all good (100% my fault for not researching). Now he’s getting picked on by my two biggest cichlids, but the other one isn’t, and the polar blue doesn’t appear to have problems with any others. He also is very not well suited for getting through the coral and I’m worried that will also hurt him along with the bullying. Watching him stress is making me stress, but he’s ate this morning.

I have a ten gallon hospital tank I can put him in if need be, or a planted 25 gal but it has kuhlis, guppies, shrimp, and snails in it so I’m hesitating on that… also have smooth river rocks I want to set up in a couple months but the coral has grown on me a little bit.

I plan on setting up a camera to see how it is when they aren’t being observed. The two bullying fish are in pic 5

Long question short, how do you guys decide when it’s too much aggression and not just a case of establishing a social order?

Bolivian rams

I wanted to get Bolivian rams for my new 79 gal tank (100 cm long). The question now is if it would support two pairs or if it would be better to stick to one pair? I worry mostly about thr fact that it may be not structured enough if aggression occurs (the picture taken is after cutting back some plants, mainly the limnophila in the back). Stocking atm is 6 praecox, 1 pearl gourami, 12 corydoras venezuelanus, 3 panda garras and some amanos and nerites.

Philadelphia fishkeepers!

Is it still next to impossible to find Kribensis cichlids in the Philly area? I remember trying to find them back when I lived there back in 2018

German Blue Ram Sex?

Can anyone tell definitively what is the sex of this German Blue? I want to say female but its behavior with the other male makes me question that. It has unique fins for the breed.

Thx

Is my fish okay?

So ive had this ADORABLE polar parrot fish cichlid (I think thats what its called) for a few months now i think half a year and it had always been white/grey but today i see that it has become green on his fins (as seen in the pics uploaded). Should i be concerned? I asked my local aquarium guy but he says its just that he is growing up and colors start to come at this age but i need confirmation. Thank you.

Is this breeding behavior?

They’ve been together for 2 1/2 months always side-by-side
