Does anyone else here have an exercise allergy? I would love to know how you guys deal with it!

Hi all, it’s my first time posting here!

I have what I think is a rare allergy. I have an allergy which can cause exercise induced anaphylaxis. The actual allergen is Omega-5 Glyadin, a protein found in wheat.

Basically if I move about too much after eating anything wheat based, I can break out into hives. But if I just don’t move after eating that stuff, I’m completely fine. So I tend to eat wheat based stuff right before bed.

I know that you can have other co factors that can cause similar reactions. I think I might have sunlight as one of them. If I stay too long in the sun, I can also break out into hives. However it’s not as bad as when I eat wheat stuff and then move about.

I’ve been told that the allergy needs one of the cofactors to “kick in” but I still experience mild hives or itchiness when I work out.

When I have to talk to medical professionals about my allergy, most of them have never heard of it. I guess that’s a testament to how rare it is. But because of that, I never got an easy explanation of how my allergies work. If anyone can tell me what actual processes happen for my allergies to take effect, that would be very cool!!

Just posting here to see if anyone has any similar allergies and hear about your stories related to it :))
