Hi i need advice with what to do regarding sexual assault in toronto
I reported my current partner, for sexual assault. He raped me while I was sleeping.
I reported this to the police, and the investigator told me that based on my statement, it doesn't look like it will be criminal. I believe I told her I have a text of him kind of admitting to it, and also an audio of one of our arguments where he becomes very aggressive. But she never reached out to get the texts or audio.
Im gonna be reaching out for therapy soon, its been so stressful
I reached out for free legal advice who said would get back to me this week or next, but I really want to know if I should contact him to try to get him to fully admit that he did it?
And im not familiar, if he does get charged criminally, can I sue him civilly as well?
Also, when he was raping me, I dont think I said no. I was too scared and I just wanted it over with. Is that bad?? It probably doesnt look good in either courts? I've already told them this
Edit: also I'm scared that once he finds out, him or his family are going to do something to me. They haven't done anything before, but they are very wealthy and I've been very anxious and scared that they would do something. Is it possible to get a restraining order or something like that?
