Does anyone have experience with having a very close friendship with a veteran? My best friend is really struggling right now with the transition to civilian life and is keeping me at arms length and I'm just trying to find someone to give me some pointers on how to handle it correctly. Thanks!
Hi all.
My best friend is a marine vet and is struggling right now. He is right at 6 months completely out and just is lost. He is close to, if not already, manically depressed and over the last month is when he has really spiraled. I've done everything I can but he keeps keeping me at arms length and when I am around him he can get really snippy really fast. I feel like I'm having to walk on egg shells 24/7 and that is tiring. My question is what, if anything, can I specifically do to help him? For those of you going through this or those of you who have gone through this, what do you/did you need from those closest to you? Any advice would help.
