We’re trying a new kind of Game Night in Anaheim — learn a game, play it, then take it home

Hey Party People! We’re trying something new at Honey Pot in Anaheim and I wanted to share it here because I think it might be up some of your alleys.

We’re starting a small monthly Game Night where instead of just putting games on tables and saying “have fun,” we pick one game, teach everyone how to play it, and then play together for the evening.

The other part of the idea is that you take the game home afterward.

Our first one is Head Hauntcho by Radish Games on Friday, August 21 from 8–10pm. It’s a spooky little card game for 2–5 players where you’re building chains of ghosts, haunting locations, and generally making life difficult for the other people at your table.

It’s $25 for a game package, which includes:

  • A copy of Head Hauntcho to take home
  • The guided learn-to-play/game night
  • Two taster-size pours

If you want to bring someone with you rather than having them buy another copy of the game, additional players are $5 each (up to the game's 5-player limit) and they also get two taster-size pours.

We only have 20 copies for this first one, so it’s intentionally pretty small. Mostly we want to see if people enjoy the format before we start building out future Game Nights.

You definitely don't need to be a serious board gamer. Honestly, part of the idea is to make trying a new game less intimidating than buying a box and then spending an hour at home trying to decipher the rulebook.

If people like it, we’ll feature a different game each month.

Happy to answer questions here if anyone is curious about how it works!
