In need of a room to rent ASAP

Hello all, I’m in need of a private room with either private or shared bathroom by June 1st. My budget can only accommodate $1000/month, utilities included would be ideal. I’m not too picky where, but trying to stay in central OC area due to work commute. I also have a cat, and she is the most loving and well behaved cat I’ve ever had. Everyone loves her.

A few things about me: I’m pretty quiet and calm. I love to play my switch and catch up on shows in my down time. I work full time as well as do side gig work to make ends meet and pay off debt. I like to cook and would love to share meals with you! I don’t cook every day though. I love the going to the gym and taking pilates classes.

Please send me a message if you know of anyone trying to rent a room and think I’ll be a good fit. I’d prefer living with females as well.

Responsible, quiet woman + 3 cats in need of housing

Blessings to all who read this-

I am a 40 year old female, and I’m seeking housing ASAP with my budget being $1200-1600 a month. (And willing to make a ‘last months deposit’, with a written agreement.)

I am a very responsible and capable person, but I’ve fallen on hard times. Over the last 6+ years I experienced a great deal of loss during COVID including my solid job(s), which was a huge hit. Since then I had to become a caretaker for my mom, recover physically myself from an accident, and more recently had to leave an abusive and controlling relationship, all of which significantly impacted my work life and financial stability. I don’t have consistent lodging currently.

I am working part-time now, looking for fuller time and better work, and trying to heal and rebuild my life. While I would like my own private apartment or space, I am open to renting a room and sharing a house or condo with someone else, IF we connected and I felt truly safe, but I would need my own bathroom, and it’s important to note that I have 3 cats. That’s whats making finding somewhere to live much more challenging. But please hear me out!

About my cats: they are British shorthair/Scottish fold mixes and have very low dander and minimal shedding. They are clean, and don’t go to the bathroom outside the litter. They are middle aged to older and generally well behaved, kinda shy, and chill and quiet. I can even show you my positive Air b n b reviews including them if you’d like. They don’t damage things or have significant behavior issues. I would be willing to offer pet deposit.

This might be an aligned situation for someone that’s gone often and would like a pet or house sitter, or someone that might have some sort of work-for-living trade they can offer of whatever I might be able to help with. Or someone with a vacant RV, guest house or tiny house. I would like to stay at least 6 months. Willing to agree for 12 if mandatory, and also open to as short as 3 months for a sublet situation.

If guests weren’t allowed, that would be totally fine with me. Otherwise I may have 1 or 2 respectful guests over max at a time, every once in a while.

I am a generally kind, sweet, easy going, dependable, and down to earth kind of person. I am super friendly but also introverted. I believe in God and I’m spiritual (but you don’t have to be.) I don’t drink at home, (minimally out,) and no hard drugs or smoking. I have prior experience with childcare, as well as personal assistant, and house and pet care. So if I can be of service in those ways, it can be discussed. I can also provide references if needed. Am willing to do a background check- I’ve never been arrested or evicted or sued.

I wrote a lot l here, but I’m sure you’ll still have questions. If you’re interested and might be able to help, please inquire with me! I’m educated (USC grad) and savvy so don’t try to scam me, as I will catch on quickly. And no creepy guys with ill intentions. Please offer me some details in your message rather than vague… Thank you!

This is a Dermestarium which is a fancy name for a vivarium for Dermestid beetles.

Dermestid beetles are used in museums to "clean up" skeletons for display and research. They are also used to clean up skulls and the like. A very low maintenance insect that provides beautiful bones.

A completely sealed 10 gal. aquarium with a electric vent and healthy colony of beetles ready to munch. Skeleton pic shows my recently deceased guinea pig after a week in the tank. Include is a packet of cyrstal water for their "watering hole.". $150 gets you a turn key operation.

Hello OC. 4 sale 1976 Chevy LUV

Hello OC it is with great sadness that I put my 1976 Chevy LUV for sale. I’ve had this truck for over 9 years. Was running but it has been sitting for at least 8 years. She is a complete truck. The rims are from the “Pimp my ride Chevy Luv redo”. I had purchased both trucks and gave the other to my brother and kept the rims off that truck. I am hoping this truck will go to a good home and see it back on the road. I’m selling to SAVE my business. Looking to get $9,000. Thanks for looking. I’m in the city of Orange.

Details:

  1. Automatic Transmission
  2. Custom rims
  3. Rebuilt engine
  4. Rare extended cab
  5. New muffler and piping
  6. Tucked in bumper ( not the ugly long one)

Feel free to ask any questions and do my best to answer.

26M looking for housing in North OC

Hey there. I'm a 26M currently living in west Santa Ana. I'm looking to rent a room or share an apartment nearby before June 23rd. My budget is $1000/month, ideally. (I know that's slim for the area.)

Some information about me and what I'm looking for:

  • I work full time (around 32 hours/week) in Costa Mesa
  • My schedule varies per week, but my shifts are all diurnal (usually something like 10-5 or 1-6)
  • I studied at UC Irvine, though my current job is unrelated to my major
  • I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs (just coffee :) ). No judgement if you do, I just ask that all smoking be done outdoors
  • I'm looking for a place with kitchen access
  • In-unit laundry not needed per se, but I'm looking for at least a laundromat within walking distance
  • I'm an LGBTQIA ally and hope you are, too
  • I have no pets, but I'm fine if you have them (dogs, cats, birds, whatever)
  • I'm okay with sharing the room and bathroom
  • I don't like being noisy, so if you need your peace and quiet, I'm your man
  • I'll happily abide by a chore schedule and clean up after myself
  • I'm up for being friends, keeping to myself, or anything in between
  • My hobbies and interests include computers, cooking, gaming, and watching movies

Feel free to comment or message!

moving advice / safe & walkable areas in oc?

looking for recommendations on safer, more walkable areas in orange county with stores, groceries, gym, and daily essentials nearby so i’m not fully car dependent to get a room with a private bathroom.

preferably somewhere with a welcoming/open-minded vibe and not too isolated or far from everything.

would also appreciate advice on areas people would personally avoid

Where to post a SHORT Term Room Rental ?

Trying to help someone that has a room for rent in Aliso Viejo. Thing is that it’s only for June & July. Any suggestions as to the best sites and apps to do so?

Will not be using Facebook. Someone suggested Furnished Finders as a good app to use because it’s mostly short term rentals.

Any suggestions? TIA

To the new owners of Hotel Laguna,

Please save us.

Many of us have dedicated years to hospitality because we genuinely care about service, standards, and creating memorable guest experiences. Unfortunately, under the current General Manager, those values have deteriorated significantly.

There appears to be little regard for true fine dining or Forbes-level service standards. Management positions and hires are being filled primarily with former friends and coworkers from casual dining establishments such as Buffalo Wild Wings, many of whom lack the experience necessary for the level of hospitality this property should represent. Basic cocktail standards are inconsistent, with bartenders unable to properly execute even simple drinks like an Aperol Spritz or Espresso Martini.

There is little structure, accountability, or quality control in both the kitchen and bar. Instead of leadership and support, blame is frequently shifted onto servers for management failures. Since arriving, the General Manager has created a culture where employees feel forced to fend for themselves rather than operate as a supported team.

Constructive criticism or concerns are often met with threats of reduced hours, creating a workplace environment driven by fear rather than professionalism. Meanwhile, management frequently remains in the office with minimal floor presence unless specifically called upon. At the same time, friends of management are regularly brought in for complimentary dinners.

This property has incredible potential, and many hardworking employees still care deeply about its reputation and future. We simply hope ownership takes a closer look at what is truly happening within the culture and operations of the restaurant and hotel before more talented staff and loyal guests are lost.

Sincerely,

A concerned employee

Hey everyone,

A few days ago I posted here as a single father with two kids looking for housing in Orange County:
https://www.reddit.com/r/occlassified/comments/1t1crd4/single_father_with_2_kids_small_pets_looking_for/

Since then I've been calling pretty much every local organization and shelter. Almost all of them sent me this exact PDF:

https://www.ochcd.org/sites/hcd/files/2026-01/OC%20Affrd%20Hsing%20List%20Revised%2012.2025.pdf

To be honest, it’s really hard to use — especially when you’re stressed and trying to find information on your phone.

So I built something better. Fist for myself to make that process faster. And tonight get decision to post it publicly.

CalHomeAid — a clean, searchable, filterable version of that same list:

https://calhomeaid.info

What’s inside:

  • Search by name, address or notes
  • Filters by city, housing type, bedrooms, and status
  • Mobile-friendly cards with phone numbers right there
  • Regular updates from the official source

100% free. No ads. And if you want, you can check it's the same data that you can find in PDF.

I asked the moderators for permission before posting (they approved), because I wanted to share it the right way.

I'm still looking for housing myself, but I wanted to make the process a little easier for anyone going through the same struggle.

If it helps even one person — I'm happy.

Stay strong.
