I think it has become cool to hate Crofty, as if it’s the thing to do. Sure, his commentary is sometimes flawed, but it’s not exactly the easiest job in the world and he brings a huge amount of enthusiasm and energy into the commentary.

Let’s face it, a lot of races need an injection of energy after the first few laps when drivers drop into tyre conservation mode up until the first round of pit stops. Not all races are action packed, and David Croft brings a lot of energy which I suspect is aimed at keeping the casual fans more engaged than any of us.

I will take that over some dull factual commentary any day of the week
