Hi everyone,
I need to vent and get some advice. I used the Secure Payment feature to buy an item for €100. With the service fee and shipping, I paid €112.
The seller accepted the offer immediately. The system then automatically generated the shipping label and provided it to the seller. However, the seller never dropped the package off. After days of no response, I had to escalate the case.
I finally got my "refund," but it was only for €100.
Kleinanzeigen/OPP kept the €12 (service fee + shipping).
- The Fee: They claim the "protection service" was rendered because they "managed" the payment.
- The Shipping: They claim the shipping label was "purchased."
How is this buyer protection? The seller breached a legally binding contract after accepting my money, and I am the one being fined €12 for it.
- Has anyone successfully gotten the full amount back when a label was already generated?
- Is it legal for them to keep shipping costs for a label that was never scanned or used?
- If I do a chargeback through my bank (Wise), what are the chances of a permanent ban?
This feels like a broken system where the platform makes a profit every time a seller flake
