I am having company for dinner and want to make a rice pilaf recipe using basmati rice, broth and onion. Do I need to do a trial run or will I be ok following the recipe? Any adjustments need to be made for a rice cooker?

We will be in Cagliari for the month of October. I'd like to pack as lightly as I can. What should I pack? We will have a washing machine.
