As the title states, my roommate tells her family that living with me is like living with a jailhouse warden. Context. I 46 F own my own home and when my friend (ill call her S) 52 F was in need of a place to stay, I offered her a room in my home. S was living with a man and was engaged but he decided to go back to his wife and kicked her out. She moved in and had a work from home job but after a month or 2 she quit her job and applied for disability. She never assisted with bills or offered any rent money; she applied for food stamps and gets about $300.00 a month and she buys sodas and energy drinks, junk food and about one meal a month. S started fb dating and went on multiple dates and started having guys come over until late at night, I was uncomfortable with that and told her I didn't want people I don't know coming to my house, so she started meeting them elsewhere. S did help with cleaning the house at first but that didn't last long, she did start mowing the yard (0.5 acre) once a week and I appreciated that and let her know that I did. S was given a bedroom and her own bathroom on the main level, she used the bedroom for a few months and then decided she wanted the finished basement bedroom. once she moved her bedroom to the basement, she stopped cleaning anything upstairs, she brings her dog upstairs and goes back downstairs while I am left to dog sit all day. Also, I had to put her car in my name and get it inspected, plated and insured because she needed her car but did not have money. She needed to get to doctors' appointments and pharmacy runs. If I order door dash, I order for 2 because I don't want to be rude. If I go thrifting and she goes, I get her what she picks out, I've taken her to the hair salon when I went and paid for her to get hers done as well, I do a majority of the cooking, she smokes and I had to ask her not to smoke downstairs because I'll never be able to get that smell out, she uses utilities like she doesn't have to pay for any, which she doesn't I guess lol.
Sorry I got carried away there venting and all but it makes me so mad because while she was on speaker phone with her brother she pulled me into the conversation and I jokingly said ya "S can't wait to leave here and move south, he said well ya doesn't every inmate want to escape the jail house warden" and I was caught off guard, S said he was just kidding but the only reason he would say something like that is if she said that or something like that to him. This whole time I was doing all this stuff for S thinking I was doing something nice just to be told I'm a warden. I don't have anyone to really talk to about this stuff besides my dad and he's been saying she has been taking advantage of me for a year now. I should have listened to my dad and just said screw it you're on your own.
Edit to add, I didn't have to ask her to leave she decided she would leave the day I told her I was putting her car back in her name, removing the plates and insurance.
