My daughter’s 25th birthday is coming up. She has a good paying job and has been living with her bf for 3 years. Our kids like to go to a nice restaurant for their birthday. When we go out, my husband and I get the bill for both our daughters and their bf. My youngest is 23 and both she and her bf are still students, so they have less disposable income. The birthday supper, after the meal, drinks and dessert for six gets pretty expensive. We also give our daughters birthday gifts. My husband and I watch our spending and follow a budget. We can afford to pay, but we find that the expense is crazy. We have offered to prepare a meal at home but that was not well received, especially by our eldest. AITAH for putting a stop to the restaurant birthday suppers and imposing a special meal at home?
