Is explosion-proof equipment enough for an offshore laboratory?

I've noticed that many people assume installing explosion-proof electrical equipment is enough to make an offshore laboratory safe.

From what I've seen, that's only one part of the solution.

Pressure control, ventilation, gas detection and emergency shutdown logic all need to work together.

Even certified equipment can't compensate for poor airflow design or delayed gas detection.

For engineers working in hazardous areas, which part of the safety system usually becomes the biggest challenge?
