hey everyone! i posted a few days ago about choosing between Hampton and Spelman and I listened and committed to hampton university and i’m really excited 🏴‍☠️💙🤍 !! but i want to get a real feel for campus life beyond what you see on tours/social media.

i’m especially curious about the day-to-day experience, so if you’re a current student or alum i’d love your honest thoughts!!

– what’s the overall vibe on campus?
– are students generally happy there?
– how was your freshman year experience socially? was it easy to find your people?

– what are the dorms like for freshmen?
– how is the food actually (be honest 😭)
– are there good food options nearby/off campus too??

– what do weekends usually look like? are there things to do on campus or do people leave?
– how active is the party scene?
– what’s nightlife like in the surrounding area (hampton / newport news / norfolk)?

– do students actually go to the beach often? like is it a regular thing or just occasionally?
– how close is the beach and how do people usually get there?

– do students actually go to the beach often? how accessible is it?
– what’s the surrounding area like overall — safe? things to do?

– how big is greek life on campus? what’s the vibe around pledging?

– how are professors and student support in general?
– does the administration listen to students when issues come up?

– if you could go back, would you still choose hampton?

i’d really appreciate any honest insight — i want to come in prepared and make the most of my experience. thank you!!
