My fiance and I have been engaged for nearly 2 years. Last year around this time I thought I hit my breaking point. Since then, things have been so great between us, until today. I was talking about one of my new special interests and he completely took the conversation over and we ended up talking about his special interest. I was only talking for about 2 minutes. I called him on it. I told him that I often feel like he overtakes conversations and turns them into talking about things HE is interested in. When he does this, he can talk upwards of 10 minutes straight. He seemed suprised and said he was sorry and that he assumed I had finished my topic. I have noticed he does this often with other people too. Don't get me wrong, I am very receptive to his stories and I am very involved with the things he is involved in. Do I get bored sometimes and begin thinking about other things? Yes. However I am still very interested in his hobbies and when he starts talking about his special interest, I don't insert my own views. We have been together 10 years. I wouldn't say he is selfish, but he always wants to do his things and acts like I am taking away from his weekends when I want to do something I enjoy, together.
