I am 6 weeks out from my DIEP reconstruction. I have had size/shape changes in my breasts, swelling etc. No matter what (soft cup no wire) bra I wear my breasts look like memory foam shaped forms. My plastic surgeon was concerned about seromas, emphasizing that if I had fluid collecting, that it could interfere with the phase 2 revision. I went for an ultrasound and in addition to not being that careful or seemingly aware of what the nuances of my surgery meant, said they didn’t find any fluid pockets BUT identified a likely benign cyst (didn’t give it a size) and recommended I get an MRI. Wondering how likely it is for me to have a cyst, 6 weeks after DIEP? Also, how common is it to go for an MRI in this stage to monitor what just might be diffuse swelling? I feel like I’m chasing imaginary issues but also don’t want to overlook anything.
