I am giving serious thought to moving from the UK to Copenhagen within the next few years, but I've been put off by all the posts from other internationals saying how difficult it is to make friends and socialise. Is this really the case? I'm quite often lonely where I live now and wouldn't like to make things worse!
I read a lot that internationals struggle to make friends as their work colleagues aren't interested in a social life outside of the office. For what it's worth I've never worked anywhere in the UK where I've had a great social life; only 1 or 2 friends in my career. I've always made friends by taking part in activities and joing clubs - choirs, dancing etc. Does Copenhagen have these? Or is the language barrier for internationals too great?
I do also have relatives in Denmark (My Grandad was Danish), so I will have a support network of a kind although they are on the other side of the country near Lemvig. I would want a life of my own outside of them though!
