Hello,
We had 2 critter guards placed over fan vents (I dont actually know the correct name/terminology)on our roof a few years ago when raccoons got into our attic. We just had a roof replacement, and during consultation were told the new type of vents to be installed did not require the guards as they don't have the same ease of access for critters. Therefore, the guards were supposed to be thrown away during tear off.
For whatever reason, our new roof was installed today and the guards were placed back on the roof onto the 2 end vents! So now we just have random unnecessary guards over two out of 5 brand new vents.
The sales guy we've communicated with the entire time said this was an error and he would have his roof tech remove them and replace the shingles underneath with the same lot # shingles used in today's install.
My question is, would this cause more harm than good disrupting what was newly installed/having to lay just a section of new shingle where the guards are? Would we be better off just leaving the guards up even though they technically serve no purpose/are redundant now? I just don't want to already cause a problem area on a brand new roof so looking for advice. Any potential impact on home inspection when trying to sell?
**P.S. I tried to post this question in r/Roofing already and got auto blocked by the AI moderator for low karma because I don't reddit regularly/spam protection. Joy. **
Thanks!
