Realistic expectations for age gaps?

I’ve been reading through some posts on this sub and I think from the variety of different people looking for partners, this is probably a perfect place to ask this question.

For people looking for long term, monogamous relationships, FLR with a deep dynamic… how much of an age gap feels acceptable to you?

I’ve been observing online discourse about age gap relationships and I think it’s good the majority of the younger folks frown upon gaps that are too large.

Personally (and ideally) I don’t want more than five years in either direction. I’m in my late 40s. I know there are gendered stereotypes regarding acceptable age gaps and that makes it tricky to give a blanket answer. I struggle with having people 10+ yrs younger than me trying to date me. I don’t think the intention is geared towards more than sex most times. And being F (she/they) I deal with some serious judgements about my life and body. I sometimes find people in their mid-30s attractive, but it’s getting weirder to agree to dates or even entertain talking romantically.

Does anyone have personal insight or experience with a FLR dynamic where there has been a noticeable age gap?
