Garmin Instinct 3 Solar Tactical (45mm) experiencing power dropouts with Quarq power meter. Anyone else?
Hey everyone,
I went for a ride today and noticed some power dropout issues between my Instinct 3 Solar Tactical (45mm) and my Quarq power meter.
For my setup, the Quarq was connected via ANT+. I was using an Edge 130 as my head unit to monitor, while wearing the Instinct 3 on my wrist to actually record the cycling data, which is my usual setup.
However, I experienced intermittent signal drops on the watch. When I compared the data between the Instinct 3 and the Edge 130 after the ride, the dropouts on the watch's record were very obvious.
The weirdest part is that this only happens when the watch is on my wrist. If I mount the watch on the handlebars, hold the tops of the bars, or even when I ride Zwift indoors with the watch sitting further away on my cycling desk, there are absolutely zero drops.
I never had this issue with my previous devices like the Forerunner 265 or Fenix 8. It seems like the Instinct 3 is particularly sensitive to body interference blocking the ANT+ signal.
Has anyone else experienced similar dropout issues with the Instinct series? Any feedback would be appreciated!
