Im hoping to get some information as this is, from what I can tell, a very rare case.
I’m 32 weeks pregnant and at a 32 week ultrasound (a bit early because baby girl is measuring pretty small, but still proportionate and within normal range) there was what the doctor believes to be a lipoma in my baby’s brain.
She didn’t give me much information, but from the images I saw it matches up pretty perfectly with lipomas around the corpus callosum. She said she doesn’t believe it looks like any kind of hemorrhage or signs of a previous stroke, as there are no other anomalies or damage to the brain that could be seen on the ultrasound.
I’ve been referred to have an MRI and consult with pediatric neurology, hopefully ASAP as the anxiety of not knowing literally anything is killing me.
I’ve also been trying to find any research on this and there’s…not much. I’ve read a case study or two and found some posts from people that were diagnosed as adults. It sounds like many times it is pretty asymptomatic, benign, and slow growing, if at all. But there’s also accounts of it causing things like migraines, seizures, epilepsy, and more depending on size, type, and if the corpus callosum is fully formed or not.
If anyone has any information about this or even has been diagnosed with the same lipoma, I would really appreciate anything you can tell me while I wait for the MRI and everything.
