AM4 vs AM5 and GPU conundrum

I originally bought a ••Silverstone RVZ03 mini ITX case•• back in 2020 along with an ••ASRock B550M-ITX/AC•• motherboard and a Kingston NVMe SSD with the intention of building a compact gaming PC. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to leave my setup behind and wasn’t able to complete the build at the time.

Now I finally have all my parts back and I’m planning to complete this long-overdue build. The issue I’m running into is that people are saying that AM4 is now a “dead platform,” while AM5 is significantly more expensive due to DDR5 RAM and motherboard costs.

Since I’m building on a budget, I’m trying to decide whether it still makes sense to stay on AM4 or switch platforms.

Right now, I’m considering either a Ryzen 7 5700X or a Ryzen 5 5500X3D (advice required) for the CPU. For the GPU, I’m looking at either an RTX 3080 or an RX 6800 XT which is very slight expensive then 3080 where i live(advice needed). For RAM i was thinking 32 gigs of DDR4 3600 mhz cl16.

However, I’m getting mixed advice. One of my friends suggested that I should sell my current case and motherboard and move to an AM5 micro-ATX build instead.

At this point, I’m a bit confused about what the best value path forward is, whether it makes more sense to stick with AM4 and finish the build, or abandon it and switch to AM5 entirely.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ps- i am only planning to use it for gaming strictly. I already own a MacBook pro m4.
