Good day, I need some guidance on my claim. I am an EU citizen with settled status. I suffered a work place accident which lead me to claim for universal credit. My claim has been on going for just under a year.

My partner and step daughter (both South African) just joined me in the U.K., both have 33 months visas and “No recourse to Public funds” endorsements.

Since their arrival, I informed Universal Credit about a “change in circumstances”, mainly my household composition. They now made my single claim a joint claim. My partner was denied UC, however it’s still a joint claim. I also included my step daughter as now living with me.

Today, I get my statement and I see there is an extra payment for 1 child. I’m a bit confused as I did NOT apply for child benefits or any support, I just merely updated my claim to reflect my current household situation. I would like guidance on what to do in this situation. Doing a bit of research online, it states because of my EU status I’m entitled to this payment, however I am mindful, my step daughter has the no recourse to public funds on her Evisa and I really don’t want it to come back to bite me later with either an overpayment or some sort of immigration breach.

Please advise me how to navigate this issue. Thank you in advance and sorry it’s so long, I just needed to state the entire situation.
