Need Opinion on SUTD

I see SOO many posts about small 3 but the mainly talk bout SIT and SUSS, they neglect SUTD most of the time. Is there any particular reason ?

I did my part of research from the official website, open house, students and the r/SUTD but i don't want only biased information. i wanted some general opinion on it. Is it worth it or not for an international student without MOE TG.

Uni Dilemma

I just need some advice for picking Uni. My profile is considerable below avg for NUS & NTU but I applied to them as reach schools and it would be a no brainer if i got in. But as of now I need some honest perspective on choosing between SIT EEE and SUTD EPD.

The Dilemmas:

  1. Cost: As an international student, SUTD is significantly more expensive. Is the SUTD "premium" actually worth it for someone going into the industrial sector?
  2. Curriculum: SUTD seems more "modern" and design-focused , which fits my interests but SIT seems more "grounded" with a 12-month internship (IWSP) that might be better for experience.
  3. Reputation: Does SUTD carry significantly more weight than SIT globally or do people only care about your practical skills?

Questions for seniors:

  • For those in Automation/EE, does SUTD’s interdisciplinary approach give you an edge, or is SIT’s deep-dive internship better for "day one" readiness?
  • Is the ROI for an international student at SUTD justifiable if you aren't aiming for a big tech/Silicon Valley-style role?
  • How is the culture at both for international students?

Would appreciate any advice, especially from those who had to choose between these two!.

Hi everyone,

I’m an International Student and I’ve just started receiving admission offers. However, my current offer is for a non-subsidized seat (full fees, ~$60k+/year).

When I originally applied, I didn't opt-in for the MOE Tuition Grant (TG) or scholarships but now my circumstances have changed and I am fully ready to commit to the 3-year work bond.

I have a few questions for seniors or anyone who has been through this:

  1. Switching post-offer: If an offer letter says "Non-Subsidized," is it possible to get it re-evaluated for a subsidized (Tier C) seat before accepting? I’ve already reached out to admissions, but I want to know if anyone has successfully done this.
  2. The "Lock-in" Rule: I’ve heard that if you accept a non-subsidized offer and matriculate, you are locked into full fees for the entire 4 years and cannot apply for TG in Year 2. Is this actually enforced?
  3. Mid-Term Scholarships: If I’m on a non-subsidized track, am I still eligible to apply for Mid-Term scholarships in Year 2, or do these usually require you to be on the TG track first.

Since I'm planning to stay in SG anyway. Any advice on how to phrase the appeal to admissions would be appreciated!
