Csd applicants interviewed in may ...are u guys waiting too?

Hi everyone,

Since last 2 days, I saw a few people mentioning that they got into the CSD pillar at Singapore University of Technology and Design, and I was getting a bit curious/anxious about the timelines.

I applied for CSD and had my interview on 7 May. I also came across a post/comment where someone mentioned that they asked the admissions office about outcomes on the interview day and were told something around 22 May.

So I just wanted to ask: have the CSD outcomes already started coming out officially? Or are most people still waiting?

Also I got one mail yesterday , it was an invitation to join a webinar sort of thing ( something related to ISTD) has anyone else received that too?

Would really appreciate if anyone who applied to CSD could share their status/timeline. Thanks!

Questions from an incoming student (SENIORS PLS HELP!)

Hello everyone! I am an incoming student to SUTD this September and have many questions with regard to SUTD. I hope to receive some answers, and may this be helpful for other incoming students this year or in the future. For context, I am an international student who took Singapore GCE A-Level and was offered SUTD EPD, SUTD Undergraduate Merit Scholarship, and SUTD Hostel Award. I actually have so many questions, so I ranked it from most important to least important. I REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ANSWERS, AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

  • 1.What do you NOT LIKE about SUTD? I have heard many good things about SUTD, but I want to know what I should be concerned about too. I appreciate any “insider information” rather than just “not from the Big 3” because everyone knows that.
    1. What can I do now to prepare for my freshman year and my university journey at SUTD ahead? I am planning to revise my H2 Maths and H2 Physics learnt at JC and probably learn some AI/coding concepts to improve my computing skills.

    1. What are your views on the university’s push and focus on 'DesignAI'?
    1. Since SUTD is more self-directed and requires students to take initiatives, do you have any thoughts/opinions on how to find opportunities to add value to ourselves and network? ARE THERE MANY OPPORTUNITIES GIVEN IN SUTD COMPARED TO NUS/NTU?
    1. Will I face many limitations as an international student when applying for internships and overseas exchange programmes? (Quota, etc.), or will the school provide more support in these areas?
    1. Do most SUTD graduates work in engineering sectors? Any possibility that I can work in business sectors too? (IS IT HARD TO PIVOT AROUND?) I see there is a “Psychology & Business Management Minor” available; does this help? (To clarify, I am set for technology specifically Mech Eng, but just want to know if I can pivot around to my second interest in mind.)
    1. Student proportion in SUTD, I am just very curious….

    • Are there actually MANY students in SUTD on scholarship? Making one holding a certain scholarship very common and less prestigious.
    • Poly VS JC proportion? For JC, where do most JC students come from? Is it very diverse? Or is it mostly from high-tier or low-tier JCs?
    • Female-to-male students proportion HAHA
    1. I understand that the SUTD undergraduate programme is 3.5 years rather than 4 years. Do you think we lose out to other universities that offer 4-year programmes?
    1. School life/student culture? Is there anything remarkable about SUTD school life that only “insider students” know about? Of course, everyone knows about the small cohort that forms a strong community and the compulsory stay for incoming students.

    1. Just any thoughts/opinions/suggestions for incoming students?

Grateful to be in SUTD and honoured to receive a scholarship; looking forward to university and appreciate any answers to my questions!

Student life in general

Hi, i recently went for the offer reception and tbh I didn't really get a feel of the student life cause first of all there wasn't even many student representatives I cld interact with. I just have a few qns, can students studying here pls advice😆😆

  1. How is the study-life balance? Are pple in sutd all muggers? like I get courses in sutd are hard but is everyone just studying all the time?😭😭

  2. How's the partying and clubbing culture like in sutd. Sorry this is a super degen question but I js wanted to know if sutd will give me the college experience. I know uni is a place to study hard and get a degree all, but I think no harm in wanting social life as well.

  3. How do the 1st year of compulsory forms work? Like are there any super strict rules

  4. Also how are classes like, isit all week from morning till evening?

Payment of tuition fees and scholarships

Hi, I recently got my acceptance from sutd and I am wondering when students get billed for both their hostel and tuition fees. For context, im an international student with the tuition grant.

I saw on ntu’s website that those with the tuition grant will be billed in the first term, while those without it have to pay before the term starts. Is it any different for sutd?

Also, I saw that sutd offers mid term scholarships and im looking forward to applying. But with that being said, im not sure how competitive it is to get these scholarships. Is there a gpa range I should be aiming for? Is it difficult to have a gpa of 4.0+ (I will be studying csd)? Lastly, when do I get to apply for these scholarships? Is it only at the end of term 3?

Thanks for reading this. Any help would be appreciated!

Anyone received SUTD ASD outcomes yet? 😭

I interviewed for SUTD ASD on 30 April and admissions emailed me saying my application is still under review and outcomes will be released by end-May.

Just wondering if anyone from ASD/poly has already gotten offers/rejections recently because the waiting is actually driving me insane LOL

From what I know, this is around the timing they usually start releasing outcomes, so I’m trying not to overthink the silence too much 🥲

Has anyone received the interview result email?

I had my interview on May 6th and haven’t heard anything since then. I’m a bit worried whether I passed. I’d like to ask if anyone who interviewed on the same day has got a reply. Also, will they send an email regardless of admission result?🥺

SUTD Scholarship

I just received the Trailblazers scholarship, and I need to sign a form or letter with Singapore MOE in order to receive a subsidised fee, which is then covered by the scholarship. I was told to go to TGOnline and sign in to sign that letter. I suppose I need to use the same email that I used when applying to the school, but after doing that, I do not see any form or letter to sign. Does everyone have this issue or should I contact the school? Thank you!

Did anyone get the mail...regarding submission of final grades

So my final grades dropped from predictive ones ...and I am yet to receive a decision from sutd . I got a mail yesterday regarding submission of final grades , can they revoke offers if the marks have dropped. ( I would send for re-evaluation cuz I think i would get more but that would happen around June)

My uee went really well and my prior grades till grade 11 were quite strong too.

If anyone has any idea then please do let me know , I am really anxious abt this.

Should I send in my sat if it’s low?

Hi! Guys so basically I recently interviewed for SUTD ASD and just received my SAT score today: 1370 (710 Math, 660 RW).
I had already submitted my application earlier without SAT scores, but now I’m wondering whether it would still be beneficial to send the score officially to SUTD after the interview stage.
For ASD specifically, would a 1370 strengthen my application meaningfully, or is it not really necessary at this point?
Would really appreciate any advice from current students/applicants. Thanks!

SUTD’s recognition, employability and higher studies

Seriously considering SUTD over one of the Big 3.

Is SUTD’s strong software and design/ AI focus enough to balance its weaker global name and recognition. Does employers really value this?

Do SUTD graduates face problems like keyword filtering or brand bias when they apply for jobs in big companies inside or outside Singapore.

Are SUTD degrees less chosen by top international graduate schools compared to older and more established universities, making higher studies abroad more difficult.

Any other key considerations apart from the interest/ goals etc.,

SUTD unexpected outcome

I just got rejected from sutd without even being interviewed. For reference I have got 94.75%in my ISC class 12 and I have some national level ecs and nice essays. I’m my opinion, there was more or less nothing that could be a problem. What do you guys think and should I appeal.

Appeal review

Hello everyone so I’m currently finish writing my appeal, but I’ve got several feedback regarding my 2nd answer as I put my mental health as a part of my answer and I’m currently torn on rather to put it in to show my improvement or should I remove to purely highlight my strength. Feedback would be kindly appreciated as i plan to submit during the weekends 🙏🏼

An important consideration for admission is your academic preparedness to cope with the rigour of the SUTD curriculum. If your school results over the last 4-5 years are not a true reflection of your academic ability, please provide compelling evidence of your capability in math and sciences (e.g. external test results, certifications, etc.), or highlight any extenuating circumstances (e.g. personal catastrophes that you had to overcome) which had a significant impact on your academic results. Please limit your response to between 75 and 150 words.

While studying at Temasek Polytechnic, I suffered immense pressure from my family, pushing me to study Aerospace Electronics. I eventually broke down under this pressure, which impacted the amount of concentration and time I could dedicate to my studies. Eventually causing me to take a gap semester, after which I returned with a more focused approach, resulting in an improvement in my remaining semesters. After much self-reflection during 2 years in NS, I still feel quite passionate about studying in the Engineering aspect, compared to the aerospace setting and requirements of my course. This makes me believe that SUTD’s EPD course, with its curriculum on hands-on learning, would be a perfect opportunity and environment for me to breathe life once more into the passion projects I’ve always had in mind, not limited to the aerospace context, which I could’ve never manifested into reality in my previous course

Anyone still struggling to find an internship in SG?

Hello all! We're a group of TP alumni who just released something we figured we'd share here. During internship season, we noticed a pretty big gap in how students find internships.

Every semester, its the same routine. Jump between Glassdoor, LinkedIn, JobStreet, MyCareersFuture, or whatever other job sites you bookmarked. Half the job listings are already expired, you spend more time searching than actually applying.

What we brainstormed is a tool that can pool all the listings from every major Singapore job portal into one single feed. Updates itself every hour in the background. Eliminate the need of jumping through 10 different websites, access to fresh out the oven job listings, all in one place.

It has been a few weeks since we've officially launched, but we've been getting some good traction. Ngee Ann Polytechnic listed us on their careers page https://oic.np.edu.sg/vacation-internship and we're looking to further our outreach to help even more students struggling to find internships. 😊

Everything's free! But if you do check it out, would love to hear what you think!

How do I appeal

Yesterday I got a rejection letter from SUTD with an option to appeal. I would like to know if there is a specific format or guideline that needs to be follow when submitting an appeal.

Additionally, would it be fine for me to email SUTD regarding my current application to better understand which aspects of my application is lacking? so I can focus on them on the appeal
