when do the scabs fully fall off?

i’m on day 13 (surgery was august 4th).
i have minimal scabs on the back of my throat but i have white scabs on both sides (near the ear area). i’m certain those stubborn scabs are contributing to my excruciating ear pain. i have not done any salt water gargles; however, i may if they can expedite the scabs to fall off.

i’m scheduled to return to work on day 16 but i’m extending my FMLA to day 24. i work in child welfare and it’s way too demanding for me to return just yet.

any tips on how to make the scabs fall off quicker? other than drinking water, of course.

when will the ear pain go away?

today is day 9 (day one is surgery day) and i have been suffering with shooting ear pain (swallowing, eating, and drinking triggers it)

it feels like shockwaves of pain from my mouth into my ears as soon as i swallow.

i’ve teared up before with how excruciating the pain is

yes, the humidifier has been running constantly & my head is always elevated on bed/couch & i’ve been drinking water like recommended

here’s a timeline:

DAY SIX
4am - woke up 9/10 ear and throat pain
8am - woke up to 7/10 throat pain
2pm - been taking my oxy every 4 hours instead of 6 - the pain is unbearable
cheddar biscuits soaked in soup have been a life saver

DAY SEVEN
1am - 10/10 ear pain - took meds early
4am - 8/10 ear pain - took meds early
7am - 11/10 ear pain - took meds early
9am - 8/10 ear pain - looking at the nearest bridge at the moment
1pm - 12/10 ear pain
9pm - 15/10 ear pain - wanted to shoot my ears

DAY EIGHT
4am - woke up to 9/10 ear pain - took my meds
9am - 7/10 ear pain
6pm - ate soup with naan
8pm - 7/10 ear pain

DAY NINE
4am - woke up to 7/10 ear pain
8am - woke up to 7/10 ear pain
1pm - 7/10 ear pain when drinking or eating anything

scrapes on nose

i moved into a townhome with carpet a couple of days ago & ever since, my dog has been having these scrapes on her nose. she doesn’t seem to be in pain when i touch it. it looks like it’s getting worse. i put a nose balm on her nose & she rubbed it off.

before this, they’ve never lived in a home with carpet. my other dog doesn’t have any scrapes on his nose.

i’m not even sure carpet is the cause. she is almost 5 & is way more energetic than my other dog.

how do i prevent/heal this?
