Wisdom teeth extraction - dentist or oral surgeon?
Hi all, my daughter has been told that she should have her remaining two wisdom teeth (top ones) out as they are impacted but not yet erupted. She is about to turn 21 and is in Canada for university.
The dentist said they could remove them, but I'm very torn on whether or not this is a good idea vs having her go to an oral surgeon. I've read many comments that dentists *should* be able to extract wisdom teeth with no issue, but also that it's not something all dentists may be good at and I don't see how we can make an objective judgement call about a dentist's level of skill. Especially since this is her first time seeing this dentist so it's not someone we know well.
Just the consultation with an oral surgeon will cost more than the entire extraction if done by the dentist, so the massive cost difference is the only thing keeping me from sending her to an oral surgeon. But ultimately the quality of care is most important to me.
I guess it sounds like I'm answering my own question here, but based on the pano does this look like a very straightforward case that a dentist would be able to do without issue?
