My reply to free pet ad response. Please use if you like!!
I spent some time writing this copy/paste Free Pet ad response(with the help of AI but I corrected it alot) and I think its pretty darn good. You cant tell me its not lol. I am posting it here in case you like it too and want to save time instead of writing your own. You paste it into a reply for a Free Pet ad whenever you feel like doing something for animals but are low in resources or energy or whatever. Here it is:
Subject: Safety warning regarding your free kittens/puppies
Hi,
I see you are looking for a great home for your pets. I know you're relying on your gut instinct, but please know that professional animal flippers, hoarders, and dogfighters look and act completely normal. They show up with friendly smiles and perfect stories because they do this for a living.
Shelters require a fee because a bad actor wants a free asset they can use, flip for a profit, or discard without losing anything of their own. Requiring a home check instantly screens out people claiming a good home but don't actually have anything good for you to see.
Here is the solution: When you reply to buyers, ask for a photo of their ID, require a small $30 rehoming fee, and include the phrase "HOME CHECK REQUIRED" in your ad text.
FAQ
Q: ISN'T IT LIKE 'PROFITING' TO ASK FOR A FEE WHEN THE PETS AREN'T VETTED? A: No, $30 doesn't even cover a bag of food. It's a safety barrier, not a price tag. If you feel uncomfortable taking cash, ask the buyer to donate the $30 directly to a local animal shelter instead. Send them the link and require a screenshot of the receipt as proof before meeting up.
Q: WON'T FINDING A HOME TAKE LONGER IF I ADD THESE RULES? A: Yes, because bad homes are fast, while good families take time to prepare. The bad guys want an animal in five minutes flat. A few extra days of waiting ensures a safe, permanent family instead of a nightmare.
Q: WHAT IF I DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE TIME TO DO A HOME CHECK, AND WHY DO THESE RULES MATTER? A: You don't actually have to drive out there. Just putting the words in your text acts as an instant filter. If someone claims they have a good home, a normal person would have no problem showing it off. But abusers and hoarders panic because their homes are physical evidence of a crime—whether it is a filthy, overcrowded hoarding setup or a backyard built for fighting. By requiring that the address they give you matches the address on their ID, you force them to connect their real, legal name to the exact location where the neglect or abuse is happening. They absolutely cannot risk being identified or tracked by Animal Control and the police, so they will completely bypass your post.
A predator can easily fake a polite personality, but they cannot fake an ID, a fee, and a home check without leaving a trail. The moment you demand these things, the bad ones will vanish. Please don't hand your pets over without these basic protections.
