Rescuer wants pouches to carry these babies.
Please advise, I said I’d make her some but I don’t want to use the wrong material or shape.
Require emergency veterinarians to provide urgent care regardless of payment
Our cat Panda died in an emergency room because we couldn't afford the $2,000 procedure that could've saved him.
My dog Max died after 19 months of treatment by 5 veterinarians. No one ever told us he was dying. So we drafted a proposed NY law. link below.
My name is Maria, and together with Edwin Perez, we drafted what we’re calling “The Max Perez Animal Care Protection Act” after losing our dog Max on April 8, 2026.
Max was a Maltese Poodle treated by five different licensed veterinarians across New York over roughly 19 months.
His records showed:
• repeated abnormal bloodwork
• multiple emergency visits
• bleeding episodes
• progressive decline
But despite all of that, no provider ever told us — verbally or in writing — that Max was likely nearing the end of his life.
Testing continued.
Procedures continued.
Bills continued.
We trusted the professionals and followed every recommendation because we believed there was still a path forward.
Max ultimately died in our living room in our arms.
After reviewing the records, we discovered something we believe is a major legal gap in New York:
Current veterinary law generally prohibits negligence, but it does NOT specifically require:
• prognosis disclosure
• coordinated care between multiple veterinarians
• medication reconciliation
• hospice transparency
• end-stage communication
• written disclosure when continued diagnostics are unlikely to materially change outcome
So we spent months building a citizen-drafted legislative proposal called:
THE MAX PEREZ ANIMAL CARE PROTECTION ACT
The proposal would require:
• written prognosis disclosures
• coordinated provider communication
• medication safety review
• hospice/end-of-life transparency
• billing transparency
• diagnostic necessity disclosure
• public disciplinary reporting for malpractice/deception
One of the most important parts says families deserve to be told when additional tests are unlikely to improve outcome or quality of life.
Sometimes families don’t need another test.
They need honesty, compassion, and time to say goodbye.
We also created a memorial timeline/comic documenting Max’s story because we never want another family to go through this without answers.
We know legislation is difficult.
We know not everyone will agree with every proposal.
But we genuinely believe veterinary transparency laws need to evolve alongside the reality of how deeply people love their pets.
If you’ve experienced something similar, I’d truly like to hear your story.
For Max. 🤍
Rescued this crow from pool
What should I do? Idk what’s wrong with his feet but I do see string knotted around and I’m thinking about cutting it
Edit: this is in Florida and I feel worried leaving it in the sun as it dries because it is so hot right now I’m not sure how long it can stay in direct sunlight without moving. I was also able to cut the string but it seems to be trying to rest? It opens its eyes here and there but keeps them mostly closed and does not move
She gave birth. Then they abandoned her. Now she's going blind and can't see danger coming. Please read. 💔

Hurt mouse in hall closet
I found a mouse in my hall ckoset this morning, it's tail was stuck in some hair in my broom. I feel absolutely awful. I think it's been there since last night, I thought it's squeaking was outside.
I got it out of the broom and used some tweezers and small scissors to get as much hair off as I could. It's tail is looking pretty rough, and I can't tell if it's further injured or just exhausted. It's doing a bit more rolling than walking.
I have it in a basket with some rags and a bottle cap of water and a few pieces of cat food.
I'm in La Pine Oregon.
Is there anything else I can do for it? I don't want it to suffer, but I'm afraid a vet would just euthanize it, regardless if it could survive or not. Should I just release it and let nature take over?
update: I found a local rescue that could normal take the mouse as a patient, but they are unable to because of the hantavirus thing, so I was advised to release it so it can hopefully "heal and rejoin the econsystem." So I did, and I can't stop crying.
Send good vibes for the mouse!
Cat colony in need of help ASAP Canton OH
Dear Reddit,
We need help with a cat colony in the general Canton OH area. My friend is moving out of her ex boyfriend's house soon but she doesn't wanna abandon the small cat colony there. He will continue to feed them but they need more than that. We need someone to help trap and fix the cats so they don't keep having kittens. I live out of state and she is a single working mom so we could really use some guidance. If someone could recommend a shelter/program that could help or even better a crazy cat person who knows how to get er done?! Currently this colony produces kittens and not all of them make it. Or the ones that do are pregnant themselves 6 months later. One is pregnant now. They all have fleas. I saved one kitten myself and he was a very sick baby. My friend loves the cats but is an overwhelmed working two jobs. She never even used Reddit. Her ex is nice enough. Like I said he feeds and waters the cats but that's about it. I'm willing to assist as much as I can for anyone who can possibly help. I trapped a cat once in my state but I don't know what shelters do that here. I know free is a lot to ask but even a discounted spay/neuter program could work. I just don't wanna forget about these poor kitties after she moves. A lot of them could easily be adopted out because they are so used to people. Her kid plays with them so they are socialized. Any help or guidance is appreciated 🐈⬛ 🙏🏼🐈
Rescued common box turtle from road
I was riding home with my dad and saw a turtle on the side of the road. We turned around and watched a HUGE truck maybe graze it and this poor baby probably flew about 15 feet ahead of where it was originally. It was bleeding by its leg so I took it home (not to keep just to get it out of the road, and hopefully give it to someone who can help it if it needs, we only live about a minute or two away from where we found it)
So far, only one leg has came out of the shell and I am worried the other might be hurt or broken.
What should I do or who should I contact about this??

the cat is crawling in critters and clearly has an ear and possible eye infection. i have been feeding the poor thing for a couple of days. i cant take the cat in this position as i have one of my own that i cant risk getting sick.
if i can get some medical resources at a
cheap price i would be more than willing to take in this cat who clearly was an inside cat previously.

kitty can keep going like this without it being irreversible.

2 injured birds 1 dead
I was by my local community centres (Ontario, GTA) entrance, when i looked down and noticed a box of birds. They appear to be young birds, however they weren't able to move much and their necks appeared to be broken, much of their feathers were scattered around and they were consistently chirping. I reached out to multiple rehabs however they're closed for the long weekend, any advice on how to help them? I gave them a bottle cap with water and a few pieces of watermelon
Baby Squirrel or Mouse?
Found this on my driveway. Does anyone know it is a possum, squirrel, or mouse?
Found juvenile squirrels
Two juvenile squirrels were found in a nearby plaza. One smaller than the other, acting strangely, visibly cold, and walking up to people. And it's breathing sounds wet? The second (presumably a sibling) was hanging out nearby but more wary of strangers. In speaking with the nearby shop owner, they had been hanging around and acting strangely for about two days. No sign of a mother. I managed to get them into a box (they were very docile, especially the smaller one). They're currently in the box in a dark room as I don't want to scare them more than they already are.. Also not sure if feeding is advisable, at this point. After some googling, I would guess they're around 8weeks old (but I'm not knowledgeable on squirrels and can be wrong).
I called local animal services. They can take them but are legally obligated to keep them for 24hrs max, at which point, if they are too young to humanely release, they euthanize. I'm looking for a wildlife rescue but haven't had much luck, yet. Animal services advised that I could try to put them in a warm box with a small opening, warm water bottle, and leave them overnight to see if their mother shows up. I'm a bit nervous about that but am willing to try if it's the best thing..
Not sure what to do. Any advice is appreciated.
Watch: BLACK SABBATH's GEEZER BUTLER Joins Push To Rehome Beagles From Ridglan Farms In Wisconsin
blabbermouth.netFound a nest of baby bunnies while mowing. 3 dead, 1 alive. Need advice!
Hi everyone,
I live in northwest Indiana and was mowing my overgrown backyard today. \*\* **I did not run over any animals \*\***, but while mowing I noticed a tiny baby bunny hopping around. I did my best to avoid it and tried not to scare it away. As I finished up, I spotted the nest and found 3 more bunnies unfortunately all three appear to be dead.
**The 1 alive bunny:** He appears healthy and not underweight. I'm unsure where the mother is, but I have spotted a larger bunny in my yard a few times over the past several days. From what I've read, mother rabbits typically return to the nest only 1–2 times a day to feed their young, so I don't want to assume she's abandoned him. Would it be best to just leave him alone and let her return?
**The 3 dead bunnies:** One appears to have died inside the nest. The other two are a few feet away from the nest and are already being eaten by flies. Should I move the dead bunnies away from the nest area so the living bunny can still use it as home base? Or should I bury them somewhere else? Or just leave everything as is?
I did call my local Humane Society and they offered to take the living bunny, but I'm hesitant what if the mother is still coming around to feed him, I don't want to separate them unnecessarily.
Any advice is appreciated! 🐰

Donations desperately needed for severely neglected heartworm positive young doggy who needs life saving treatment
Meet Sissy! She is a young, heartworm positive 35 lb border collie/lab mix dog who is estimated to be 1-1.5 yrs old.
Despite being severely neglected and malnourished she trusted me enough to let me help her. She was eating trash and plastic from nearby dumpster. She was injured and in heat but still very friendly and loving. I contacted local rescues and shelters but they unfortunately did not have room or resources to offer assistance so l decided to take her home.
My initial plan was to keep her safe with the purpose of eventually finding her placement so that she could be fully vetted. In the meantime I have taken her to check ups, started her on preventives, vaccines, etc.
Her bloodwork came back heartworm positive and unfortunately I have already spent everything I can getting her stabilized and cared for but the real costs are just beginning and I'm overwhelmed with getting her the care that she desperately needs to survive.
The moderators have approved me to share her GoFundMe. Donations will go directly toward her treatment, vet visits and medications.
GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/41eba3f26
If anyone is able to help, share or suggest additional resources I might not know about I would be incredibly grateful. Even just upvoting or interacting with this post could help save her life.
I'll continue posting updates on her progress so everyone who has helped can see how she's doing. I've included documentation from her vet for full transparency.
Thank you all ❤️🐾
