Rescue Dog Finds New Family After Waiting 500+ Days In The Shelter
Hi friends! In case it's of interest, I wanted to share this sweet story of one of our shelter pups ❤️
Mullet’s journey with us has been a long one. She first came into our care in 2018, went through a few different homes and eventually returned to us in 2024, patiently waiting for the right family ever since. But it didn’t take long for our staff and volunteers to completely fall in love with this sweet potato of a dog — Mullet just had that effect on people. From her goofy charm to her lovable personality, she left an impression on everyone she met. She simply needed the right person to see just how special she is.
And then, it finally happened. Mullet (now affectionately named Baby Girl) stole the heart of her adopter, and the rest was history. Her new mom shares:
“I was honored to adopt Baby Girl, aka Mullet. The words that really got to me in her bio were ‘please come get me.’ I had to go get her; she’d been there so long. It was the best day ever. She’s a wonderful girl — so loving, smart and curious. She even sleeps in bed with me. Thank you, San Diego Humane Society and everyone who took care of her until I could.”
It’s safe to say there were definitely a few bittersweet tears as she headed home, but we truly could not be happier for Baby Girl and her new mom.
