Dusky lories are stunning parrots with brown, orange, and white plumage and an orange beak. They are native to New Guinea but are also found on the nearby islands of Salawati and Yapen. Dusky lories have a length of 10 inches and their main habitat is tropical and subtropical lowland and mangrove forests. They eat a mixture of fruit, seeds, nectar and buds and have a specialized tongue that allows them to feed on nectar. It has tiny structures like hairs on the end of it that stand on end so that the nectar can be soaked up. Incredibly, they often travel around 30 miles per day while searching for food.
Fun Fact about bears: Bears have been spotted doing something really amazing — they sometimes stop at beautiful spots, like on top of hills or near mountain views, and look around quietly. 🐻🌄 What’s even more interesting is that they come back to these same spots again and again, even when there’s no food or danger nearby.
It’s almost like the bears enjoy the view, just like we do! Perhaps they enjoy watching the world from above, taking in the beauty of nature.

First time seeing a Purple Gallinule and I was shaking while I took this video (on my iPhone)! I had just woken up and went out on my balcony to have my coffee, there it was right off my back porch. This was taken in Corozal, Belize on my canal off Four Mile Lagoon.
I am pretty new to birding, moving to such a beautiful place has made me fall in love with it. Saving up now for a nice camera after this sighting!
