Great white-shark looks it head-on. is so cute
I find it ironic that the media portrays the great white shark as a psychopath, when that’s exactly what it looks like when you see it head-on. (Maybe the cuter marine predators are the most dangerous ones.)
Interesting behavior, baby emerald corys.
I placed my female betta with my baby emerald corys while they grow out a little and to see how she did for a future community tank. Before she was introduced, the corys hid in this slate cave and among the plants sifting around, most likely because there are only 3 so far.
However, they worked out their order in 15 mins and then the corys were out in the open constantly sifting with their sky dragon protector with the dither fish effect. Then this happened. Every day all day. I was worried at first. Then I realized, they're playing. Two of them Wynken and Blynken (the larger two) will have this rhythm down and they will swim to the back, float up an inch or two with the sponge filter leaving room for the next in line then swin back to the front to rinse and repeat. Nod, the smallest, usually does his own thing. Oddly confident, especially with his betta buddy. But he decided to get in on the fun and ruin the rotation. When Blynken leaves to so something else, Wynken tries to convince him to come back but not Nod. He doesn't understand the pattern. 😂 The betta likes to watch occasionally. Cory television I suppose, it's the only thing on.
You can kind of see them get it down once or twice before Nod comes barreling in. Anyways, just thought it was an interesting progression in fish behavior and I'd share. 💚

Identifying a fish question
This was the closest thing I could find to an ask an expert on fish, I apologize if it is inappropriate.
There is a book series, Dungeon Crawler Carl, where an important alien species are fish people.
Their species is call Kua-Tin.
There is a Kua-Tin character named "Zev".
The question is, does "Kua-tin" or "Zev" have any meaning to fish, historical fish or anything fish related? Zev it is likely short for something, if it has any real world meaning at all.
I appreciate any feedback, including go away, try this other sub instead.
Who do you like more, freshwater or saltwater fish?
Personally I like saltwater more because I feel like they're more diverse in looks and habitat (and also I don't really live near much freshwater) but I'm interested in your thoughts.
So. Many. Crabs.
Took a look around the salt marsh in New Jersey yesterday and I couldn’t believe how many fiddler crabs were around. Felt like I couldn’t walk anywhere without stepping on one.

Reported to DNR, fishing line injury.
Hello, this is a Catfish I caught a few years ago. I reported this to the Fish and Wildlife Department in case it was disease. They stated that this was an infected wound due to fishing line or netting. The line had potentially cut this catfish. The wound never healed so it became infected. Causing this mess. The poor catfish is dispatched. DNR left it at that. Yes I caught it alive. Please clean up after yourselves when you’re fishing.
