Anyone know what could’ve happened to him?

With the help of everyone on this sub, and some generous YouTube videos, I finally made a hummingbird fountain! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement. I tried not to purchase anything other than the pump, in honor of No Buy July, so be aware that I've given everything, both pot and bird bath basin, a great scrubbing. But if you think I need rocks along the edge where the deep pool is, or anything else, let me know.
Spending a relaxing Sunday afternoon going peacefully from flower to flower… when a bully swoops in and turns your world upside down, literally! (See still photo in comments)
Broad-tailed hummingbird at 0.1x speed! (Volume UP)
It’s still hard to count his wingbeats, but you can hear them flapping distinctly! But also, how they sound??!!! I’m getting sonar/laser beams 😆
*lil tongue at around 13.5 seconds*
Hummingbirds perceive time differently, processing sensory information much faster than we do. I love looking at them in slow-mo to really be able to break down and see all of their movements.
(Sorry for video caption, from my social)
I’ve had these feeders up a long time and I’ve never seen a bird perch right up at the top on the little extra bit of wire, apparently I inadvertently made a perch! It was hard to get a good photo on my phone, pic#2 you can see the lil fella better.
Edit to say thx for the award!
I had to sneak this from inside. They’re usually so skittish.
First, part duck. Now, part turkey with fluffy bloomers.
Flew into garage, then flew into cobwebbed corner and was trapped/bound . Had to carefully clean all the cobwebs off him/her slowly, then its beak with a bit of water as that was webbed too. Got him/her all cleaned up and he/she flew away strong!
We have about 40-50 (or more) hummingbirds that hang out in the yard and watch for me to refill the favorite feeder. So, today I held it to see if they would come and they did not disappoint! More in comments.
I've mainly seen Black-chinned males at this feeder. I just wanted to share my excitement! I'm near Albuquerque, NM
I just leaned my phone against the window to record this. No high tech setup yet! I can't tell what kind of hummingbirds the females are. Mainly Black-chinned and Broad-tailed in my area. I'm near Albuquerque, NM. Thank you!
UPDATE: A hummingbird specialist in NJ called us a couple minutes ago and we’ll be dropping her off today! So grateful we have an actual hummingbird rehabber within an hour’s drive. So lucky!
Before anyone refers me to the sub guidelines—I have tried contacting several avian/general rehabbers but it is the middle of the night.
At about 11pm when my fiance came home, he found a hummingbird struggling near the light on our apt complex landing. She was flittering and hitting the ceiling of the outdoor apartment landing, and then breathing heavily with eyes closed and wings splayed out when she landed on either fire alarm on the walls. We took her inside and are providing dark, warm shelter for the night.
She appears to be missing several tail feathers and exhausted or concussed at the very least, or gravely ill at the worst. We have also been having a MAJOR heat wave over the past several days. I have never cared for a bird with such high metabolism, so I have no idea what to think of her breathing. She is currently in my cockatiel’s small travel carrier but I am looking for a rehabilitator who might have hummingbird experience.
Any advice or comments on her general respiratory rate/appearance in the meantime while we wait for a rehabber to contact us? Thank you, and sorry for being all over the place with my explanation. I’m usually asleep by now.
I'm stressing out about going out of town for a week. What do people do about feeders? I am looking at the two insulated ones on Amazon but neither got stellar reviews. Are they worth it?
I'm hoping I can convince my niece change them every 2-3 days. I hate to take them down entirely.
Any suggestions? I already have them in locations that are accessible to humans and in the sun only part of the day. I've got a dome plastic hood on one covered with foil as well.
