The shop was called BTFFabrication and I was walking around with my camera because there’s usually cool cars there. I’m still new to auto photography so, if anyone with auto photography experience wants to let me know what works, I’d appreciate it. The owner is bricktop_c10 and he has a bunch of videos of him working on it. Was super cool taking photos of it.

Hummingbirds in Extreme Detail is a collection of macro-photography images that I captured over the span of a few weeks, from late August to mid-September 2026.
It is definitely a passion project, because taking photos with this much detail requires the subject, in this case 3-4 inch birds, to be anywhere from about 9 to 14 inches in front of the camera. That means having the settings, light, focus, and framing as precise as possible so that when the bird lands or flies by, the camera can use that fraction of a second to render as much detail as possible onto the sensor.
And as you can probably guess, this can be challenging. But it is absolutely a challenge that I love to take on.
The birds in this album include mature and juvenile male Anna’s hummingbirds, with their magenta/pink crowns and throats, and male Allen’s hummingbirds, with their orange/golden throats and orange chests.
All photos were taken using the Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens paired with EOS R7 and EOS R6 Mark II bodies. All edits were made in Lightroom using standard adjustments, minimal subject masking, and no generative AI.
I absolutely love these animals, and it has been an absolute joy to get this close and capture details that we normally never get the chance to see.
