What butterfly from the Italian Alps is this?

Came across this pretty butterfly in the Italian Alps (Aosta Valley). I like collecting butterfly pictures on my walks and then put them in the observation.org app at home, to determine the species.

This one however it didn’t really recognize, even though it’s a pretty recognizable picture. The app guessed a Queen of Spain fritillary, but the pattern of this butterfly looks so different. Is it just a “defected” specimen or is the determination incorrect? Any ideas?

Let Your Garden Grow Wild

Many gardeners work hard to maintain clean, tidy environments ... which is the exact opposite of what wildlife wants, says ecological horticulturist Rebecca McMackin. She shows the beauty of letting your garden run wild, surveying the success she's had increasing biodiversity even in the middle of New York City — and offers tips for cultivating a garden that can be home to birds, bees, butterflies and more.

Hamadryas februa

Photographed on our plaza. It’s interesting how they adjusted to tree bark, but it was fairly easy to spot xD.

Help me Identify!

Found this gorgeous fat guy yesterday while gardening! He was under some tarp I flipped over. Please help me identify him! He was so gorgeous ❤️

I live in Norway, so that helps narrow it down!

Black Swallowtail

Spotted in Toronto’s Don Valley. It had a wingspan of about 2.5” so based on what I’ve read I believe it’s a male. I feel like it’s a bit early in the year to see this butterfly, but I also spotted two monarchs on my bike home from work.

Orange sulphurs out in force

Love them for the color and the shooting challenge. Arrowleaf clover and Indian blanket.
