She’s crazy for pieces of cardboard or paper bags

Missing my buddy today and came across this photo that made me laugh. He was twelve here, and still all kitten somehow.

This is my kitty Ash! Ever since he was a kitten, his pupils have typically been either very dilated or completely dilated. I paid a silly amount of money for an examination from a cat ophthalmologist (yes, that’s a real job), and she diagnosed him with congenital retinal detachment. His eyes sometimes appear green, but only because you’re seeing the cells behind his retina when his pupils are fully dilated.

Per the ophthalmologist, he’s about 95% blind… but he’s extremely bold, friendly, and playful despite this. He loves to sit in the hallway of my apartment building, greet neighbors, and sit at the top of the stairs leading down to our courtyard. My neighbors all love him and call him our “security guard.”

Has anyone else run into this with their cats? This is a condition often found in senior kitties, but I haven’t seen it with other young cats. Ash is only 3! ❤️

I was "just looking" on Pet Finder when I came across those Disney Eyes (last pic is from her posting), and I knew she had to be mine 🥹
