TW: death

I dropped one of my kids off at school this morning through the drive thru pick up/drop off area, and after giving them a hug and sending them on their way, I saw a poor humming bird had been hit and run over. I didn't have anything to help me move the poor bird, so I called the school. I just can't stop crying. It looked like a female Anna's hummingbird. We just saw some this morning, checking out our neighbors' squash blossoms. It was so nice to see them again. We used to have humming bird feeders before we moved here. I can't have a feeder now because I'm in an upstairs apartment, and I don't want to cause potential ants for our neighbors. I have been missing them so much, and to see that poor humming bird like that this morning just broke my heart. Take extra care with your beautiful feathered friends for me, please. I am sure you already do though. Posting a pic from September 2022 of a friend that frequently visited.

TMW: you get invited to join an event about self care and getting the tools you need as a special needs parent, for yourself buuuuut.....

I ain't got no babysitters! I ain't got no money for the ticket! I am broke! So thanks, but if I can't get care for my kids to attend an event, I definitely can't go. Not to mention, I had to pop tags for back to school shopping! I really don't have money! I played Thrift Shop while shopping. At a thrift store. Hey, don't judge me, it was packed there more than it has been at Walmart for clothing shopping in my area! End rant. 😂🤣😭 This is just a vent. A funny vent.

Hey parents, what are you doing to manage your anxiety? I'm struggling, and I can't afford therapy or medication for myself.

Exactly what the title says. I need something. I drink coffee so I don't drown in my own depression, but the anxiety is strong for me today. I usually do Chamomile, green tea, magnesium supplements, but that's pretty much it. What is helping you when you can't get out and about? When you can't afford continuous, or even in my case, any medications or therapy?

A small skin care splurge

Hi all, I am new here! I found these at my local dollar tree, and thought I would try them. I am pleasantly surprised that the chilled jelly eye masks worked as well as they did the first time I used them! 💜 I still have a ways to go, but man oh man did they reduce the puffiness!

I have yet to try the mermaid mode masks, and I am curious: have any of you guys tried them? Do they work well for you? I have sensitive, dry skin, so trying new things can be kind of scary for me, heh. 😅

Trying a new brand of sports tampons that are supposedly "ultra absorbancy" annnnnd...

They suck. They're literally half the length of my normal ultra absorbancy tampons. I only got these because they were out of my usual ones. 🥲 Has anyone else, as a heavy bleeder, had the same experience? I bleed through these in an hour, where my other ones last way longer. That's it. That's my rant. Thank you.

▲ 3 r/Celiac

I have to ask: has anyone here successfully worked a a celiac safe and nut free bakery?

Exactly this. Do gluten free, nut free bakeries exist? I have celiac, while other members of my family have lethal nut allergies. I really miss baking cakes and the creative flow, the artsy side that comes with it. Before celiac, I thiught it would be fun to learn professional cake decorating and designing.... Well, that's kind of down the drain. Unless there's hope?

A rocking device for an upstairs apartment

Hi all! Our sweet kiddo likes to rock while sitting on the couch. It gets REALLY intense, and has... Kinda broken our couch.

I don't have funds yet, but I was wondering if anyone here knows of something our child can sit and rock on (that can hold adult weight, as we want it to grow with our kid), that would not disturb our poor downstairs neighbors. They're saints for living below us. We try our best, but...well, I think you guys understand. We try to keep quiet, but things still happen.

Does anyone have any good advice? I don't think a typical rocking chair would work, unfortunately. And a banana chair might be too loud. Our child also likes to pick, peel and pull things apart. I'm a zombie and I don't have any good ideas, but advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. 🙏🏻🪻

Go hang out at a McDonald's 🙄

Our family has been dealing with a flooring situation in our apartment, and it's STILL not completely resolved. What was supposed to take 2 days took 16 days of having to be away from our apartment, and if it wasn't for my husband's bro (not blood related, but practically family here), we would have been homeless for a while because the property management took a long time to reimburse and gave us "rent credit". Eff this.

Anywho, we had to delay my ASD daughter's knee surgery until all of this flooring crap was resolved, because I didn't want to have to move her around during healing. They had to replace the subflooring, which was particle board, and apparently one of the support beams broke and one of the contractors fell through it and his poor leg went through the downstairs neighbors' light.

We were able to come back eventually, and I am grateful that my husband's work let him work remote during all of this. But they still haven't finished some items, and the subfloor was replaced with crappy particle board AGAIN.

But anywho, while they were taking their sweet time to make arrangements to finish up, we needed to get my daughter's knee surgery done. The Doctor did an amazing job, and the nurses were fantastic!💜 I am so proud of my daughter for doing so well.💜 She's way too young for this crap, and I feel so awful for her, but she has been such a trooper through it all. She's not even a teen yet. 😭 And she's doing well with recovery. We start her PT next week! 🎉

But now our property management wants us to be out of the building while they finish up the floors, and having 3 kids, 2 diagnosed with ASD, and one of them recovering from surgery...one of the managers responded with "Have them go hang out at a McDonald's or a friend's place for the day." We don't have friends nearby, and making my kids stay at a McDonald's? Are you serious? I am glad my husband responded, because I lost it. He brought up our daughter recovering from knee surgery, and was incredibly professional about it. But we may end up just getting a hotel (which will be hard on our budget), because with the maintenance fix ups having a bad track record of taking longer than estimated... Yeah, we can really risk that. No one told us that it was going to take longer than 2 days with the whole flooring issue, until my husband called and messaged multiple people. We almost didn't have time to get a hotel room, because most of them were booked up. So like this? I don't know, peeps.

Anywho, if you made it through this whole post, thanks. I hope you guys are having a lovely weekend. 💜

I have anxiety / paranoia I am trying to shake off.

Uh, hi there! I am dealing with 2 situations that are currently giving me anxiety. In one situation, I know logically I did the right thing, but I am struggling with anxiety over it, concerning potential repercussions and retaliation. Do I need to stay alert, or is this just paranoia?

The second situation concerning another person has been ongoing for a while now. There have been times where I have been quite alert/concerned, but perhaps it's all coincidence. I would like things to be on good terms, but I also wonder if I haven't encountered this individual in a past life? I don't know what they were to me, nor I to them. I would like to be able to just relax. I feel so much better being away from where I currently live sometimes. Like this feeling cannot follow me and I can be at ease. But it eventually comes back after returning home for a while. Is there something I need to know about things currently? Or something I can do? Perhaps it is all sleep deprivation.

Hey guys, would you share with me how you recognize people from your past lives? Also, I think I may have had a past life somewhere in Spain.

Yup, just that. I would like to know your stories of how you guys recognized people from previous lives. Was it after doing a regression session? A strange familiarity? Have they ever sought you out without knowing why? Or perhaps were drawn to you?

Also, I keep seeing pictures and even artwork of places from parts of Spain, and they remind me of the very short scene I had when I tried my first past life regression. It was somewhere warm, the buildings painted in white, and where I was walking was rather pleasant. It was strange, but not unwelcome. I never would have guessed Spain. Then again, I do need to do another regression. 🤷‍♀️

Is this a safe place to talk about this? I just had to report someone

Trigger Warning!

I am dealing with anxiety, stupidly enough, guilt, and most of all, the need to vomit. I feel so, so sick. For context, I have children diagnosed with ASD. We have therapy in our home. The company we go through has been wonderful. I had to request to remove someone today though.

I will admit, being female, I don't know how complicated it is to deal with male parts and organs. I understand that sometimes things happen with no rhyme or reason. But this happened twice in my home.

For context: he was working with my child while aroused.

And please note: my child's bedroom door remains OPEN when we have therapy going on. So I can mad dash over in case something happens. I frequently check on all of my children when company is over.

I feel awful, because I could be damning an innocent person, but this has happened twice. I can't have my kids around that. I have the urge to take my husband and kids up to the mountains, away from people, to stay at a cabin for a very long time.

This person is no longer allowed in my home, and I am honestly concerned about repercussions. Has anyone been through anything similar? What did you do, and how did you handle this? I did contact the highest person in charge, so they made the necessary arrangements. Do I need to expect anything further? Oh, emotions.

For context: the majority of my traumatic past incidents have actually occurred indoors, and in crowded places. It sucks. It feels awful that the general public couldn't or wouldn't step in at those times, but at least 1 acquaintance saw and asked if I was okay AFTER. Or that people who should have protected you where you were supposed to be "safe" didn't know what was happening nor what had HAPPENED. High School should have been a safe place, but it wasn't. For a very young child, at home should have been a safe place, but every once in a blue moon, it was not.

I enjoy walking outside at night, in the town I live in, and many other towns I have lived in. They're not huge or highly populated, but more often than not, surrounded by mountains. I have always been careful about where I walk at night, and have only had a problem with almost running into a cougar, heh, but never any dangerous people, surprisingly. (Though I must admit, I find that people don't want to mess with the crazy lady carrying an umbrella at night, despite the lack of rain. 😉) There is something so peaceful and freeing about it. It's been so good for my spirit, for my soul. I really wish we could organize safe walking groups for women and people with uteruses, for at night. I wish I could make this a regular occurrence for many. I don't really have that ability though. And I feel it's so incredibly unfair that so many of us have had horrendous things happen in "public and safe places".

I guess I am just sad and angry about what high school me went through, when so many people were around but none stepped in. And what happened to me as a toddler. I wish I had been protected. My mother did her best to do so when she knew. I can't speak for the DNA donor though. Nor other people in public.

So walking outside at night is an odd, safe space for me. Does anyone else relate to this?
