Any tips for a pre nursing student in ct cc?

Hi! I’m going to be a freshman in a community college here in connecticut and plan to take my prerequisites and then transfer. Now i know/understand that is almost impossible to transfer to their program since its super competitive but still i would love to hear the stories of transfer students. What classes should i take the first year to be a competitive student, is it possible to transfer in a year, is it possible for me to transfer smoothly if i take a transferable class next summer. Anything would help a lot, i dont have experience in this situation im a first gen student so advice is always appreciated.

first broadway show for parents

Hi! I wanted some help on recommendations for which show is best to see for the first time for parents. My birthday is coming soon and I asked for broadway tickets (this would be the second time for me) and though my favorite show right now is Wicked i want them to enjoy too and I don’t think they’re gonna like wicked that much (i watch the movies a LOT and they’re never into it) also they both speak spanish they don’t understand english at all so any show that has earphones translation would be awesome so they understand too. Anything would be extremely appreciated!

What would you do if you were 18 again?

Hi, I’m a 18F who’s going to community college in CT because I had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to major in. I’m doing my pre-reqs this fall (planning to transfer to uconn ) but, I’ve been doing a CNA program where most teens were pre-med students and it actually kind of “inspired” me because if they can why not me. But at the same time these students are “nepo” babies they come from a family of doctors which means they already know the game or they are getting help from their families. I spoke with this woman who is just starting this program and she basically told me if she was my age again, she would most definitely go into med school. I just want the opinion of others and their (your) stories.

Transfer student scholarships

I plan to transfer in a year to UConn and I know that they instantly give a scholarship based on performance but I want to know if there’s any scholarships available for low income students? (can’t do fafsa) the tuition anually is too much apart from dorms and meal plans so I want to be ready (for example. my friend had to decline their acceptance because she didn’t apply to any scholarships)

Transfer to Uconn

Hi! I'm going to be a freshman in college and got accepted into ccsu for pre-nursing, already paid the 200 dollars but still unsure if its the right path because at the end of the day i most definitely want to go to UConn.

Idk if i should just go to cc and stay for a year, complete my credits and then apply for ACES because I am still unsure about going into nursing or go into MIS with a minor in Marketing.

Also want to know if it is possible to transfer after a year and what should my stats be.

Any tips would be appreciated as a first generation college student. Thanks!

Help me so I don't end up miserable :)

I'm a future freshman at a small public university in CT. I'm a pre nursing major and currently taking a CNA course so I can get my certification. Growing up I never really had a desire of working in something so when I reached my senior year of HS I basically just had a meltdown and chose Nursing just bc there's always a job position for them.
Now that I'm taking this course I basically understand that it isn't an easy job. So I'm still very VERY confused.

In the other hand I have Marketing as my major (or MIS too) working a corporate job is like a dream but I know is super competitive (I plan to take that degree to NYC) I'm also an immigrant so my main priority is being able to provide for my parents.

Confused students

I’m a future pre-nursing student who is also getting a CNA certification on august I just wanted to know if anyone here changed majors from nursing to any other major for example if i ever change my mind i would definitely go into MIS with a minor in Marketing but I also think of stability and how difficult would it be for me to find a job in both careers. I just want to hear students, their experience and their why. Thanks to anyone who reads this and helps a student out!

Pre-nursing program student

I’m an incoming freshman and plan to take my pre requisites. Anyone knows how hard is it to get into their nursing program and if it is worth it to stay in ccsu or js go to community college to take my prereqs and then apply again. I want to know if their education its better than in CC and how professors are to their students.

Anyone here that actually ended up doing what you love?

I’m a senior in High School and really stressed out, can’t even sleep (like literally sleep for three hours) because I can’t stop thinking of working something just for the money and end up being miserable. Yes i’ve heard nursing is the best option from my mom grandma whole family. But i honestly am so paranoid i fear i would end up killing someone and end up in jail. Also thankfully i dont get grossed out easily but poop and body fluids are a straight NO. I also am very much into makeup, celebrities just the whole hollywood broadway thing and thought Marketing/PR was my thing and then i found out that apparently it really doesn’t give you a stable lifestyle. So I ended up finding MIS/CIS and thought it might be my thing, its stable, i get to be a corporate girl and don’t suffrer three long 12 hours shift. but also as an immigrant im scared of wasting money and then end up quitting. well thats all, xoxo🫶

WHAT DO I DO??

I’m a High School senior, currently looking the best major that is right for me. I got accepted into Nursing School in one of the most competitive schools in my state, but when I realized I literally panicked because, is that really what I want? My mom is a caregiver and I never EVER acted like “wow I want to be like her when I grow up” but at the same time, I can’t lose this big opportunity that will give me a good salary right after college. I’m very much more into letters than numbers, reading is my hobby, I like nyc and I deeply think I’m going to move there in a couple of years. I was thinking going into Communications or Marketing but, those careers don’t give me the salary like Nursing would. Anyone here is already in college? I need serious advice because the clock is ticking :(

Freshman in CC

Hi! I’m a senior in highschool planning to complete my prerequisites in Community College and then transfer to a 4 year university in CT. My current major is General Studies because my cc’s website doesn’t allow me into the pre-nursing program. For any cc student who is going to a 4 year university too, how hard was it for you? Any tips for a freshman you could share?
