Prenup & Stepmom

Don’t know if this is the right sub or if it should be in r/marriageadvice but considering it bad to do with a stepparent, I thought this would work.

My fiancé and I are set to get married. We have discussed prenups before and are open to the idea.

This would be his second marriage as the first one was with his kids biological mom. He worked while she stayed at home raising the kids. They did not have a prenup so after their divorce, all assets got divided 50/50. Property such as the marital house was not sold as it was passed down generations from the dad’s side and sentimental to my boyfriend. With that being said, it takes a while to pay off half a house.

Ultimately the kids are almost 18 and their mom is asking for the last of the money she is owed.

If a prenup is established within my new marriage, does that exempt me from any possible suit on the future? As far as my own assists, none at the moment. I will get trusts and properties but hopefully that will be decades down the line after my parent’s passing and not relevant now. Just looking to separate debts.

Is this or something similar that others have needed to deal with when marrying someone who has kids from a prior marriage?
