Just thought I'd show this off as personally I think it deserves recognition. One of our players made this build during a build competition and I liked it so much.

Looks super cool IMO - lmk your thoughts / ideas for the other side of it.

Every server I've joined in the last two years has been the same thing: a Discord with 47 channels, a 12-page lore document, application forms, "season 1 reveal trailers," and three admins LARPing as showrunners.

Meanwhile nobody's actually online. The spawn looks incredible because one guy spent 80 hours on it before burning out. There are 4 bases scattered across 10k blocks because everyone's "doing their own thing for content." The Discord has more channels than active players.

Remember when you'd just hop on a server after school, see three people at spawn, and go mining together? When the "lore" was just whatever inside jokes happened that week? When you didn't need a YouTube channel to justify being there?

The casual multiplayer middle ground is gone. It's either anarchy servers full of 12-year-olds slurring at each other, or hyper-curated "content SMPs" where you feel like you're auditioning instead of playing.

Maybe I'm just getting old. But I miss when servers were places, not productions.

That's why I decided to just create my own server: Orbital Network.

Orbital Network is a brand new Economic SMP where having fun and building with friends is the main goal. We offer claims, in game city, player shops, etc to allow for a raid free, community driven experience.

Come check us out, what do you have to lose?

Made this: doesn’t offer a huge statistical based advantage and is primarily luck focused but does offer some ability to set prices.

Multiple people buying a ton will increase the stock slightly. Same with multiple dumping at the same time.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve been hopping from server to server lately and it’s always the same cycle of things look promising, there’s a small active player base, then within a few weeks it’s completely dead.

So I decided to stop relying on that and build something that actually lasts.

I’ve been working on OrbitalMC. it's an economy survival server focused on longterm progression and an active community. The goal is simple: create a server people stick with, not just another temporary grind that disappears.

Here’s what I’m aiming for:

  • Player-driven economy (shops, auction house, trading)
  • Balanced progression (no pay-to-win garbage)
  • Active development + updates
  • Community-focused (not just “log in, grind, log out”)

Features so far:

  • /ah (Auction House)
  • /warp city (player shops + economy hub)
  • /baltop (compete to be the richest)
  • Resource world for grinding
  • Clean, non-overwhelming setup

I’m still growing it, so if you’re also tired of dead servers and want to help shape something early on, you’re welcome to join.

Not trying to oversell it just want to build something that actually lasts for once.

If you’ve got feedback or things you wish servers did better, I’m all ears.
