Falstaff Beer ad and Gas Utility ad St. Louis, MO

As far as I can tell, this is a page from a tabloid size local St. Louis, MO, magazine. The gas company ad on the back mentions 1912/1913..

1935 - "World Peaceways" advertisement.

I bought this and another page the same size from a thrift store. I think there's a cigarette ad on the backside.

Dated September, 1935. I tried to find the publication this was taken. Apparently a monthly publication, and I'm not sure but I think it the publication was something regional, or for a particular city. The page is "tabloid" size.

When I saw what the ad was about, I was very puzzled. In September 1935 there was an apparently non-profit org that was trying to get people to agree that going to war was a bad idea.

So it was from some kind of anti-war or pacifist organization based in New York City. I didn't know that such a thing, or even this exact sentiment existed at that time.

c. 1950 studio Wedding photo

I bought a nice vintage brass frame today and this photo was in it. The name of the studio was on the back. "Simms Studio" which apparently was a small business in Los Angeles. No names with the photo.

The thing I really like about this photo is that they are sitting in a set with a prop in front of them to indicated that they are in the back seat of a car. Also his boutonnière looks like plastic and from this angle doesn't seem to be a recognizable flower.

She reminds me of a n actress, maybe I'm thinking of a combination of June Alison and Judy Garland.

I just bought this at a thrift store. It's about 11" by 12". The newspaper is collaged, as is the Dundee marmalade label. The mystery, to me is, where did the graphic of the Dundee label come from? Dundee marmalade jars are ceramic, like crocks, with underglaze printed writing on the crock. It looks like it was cut from a magazine, but there isn't any bleed through of magazine writing from the other side. The newspaper (or one of them) seems to be from Southern California, maybe from 1971. It says "Sun Tribune" off to the side, which might be a paper from "Lake Elsinore, CA" There's a partial phone number with the area cod "213" which was apparently all of southern cal at one point.

Further, near the marmalade jar, there is what looks like some kind of stylized foreign writing, like Korean or Hebrew or something, on one piece of paper. I know it's not normal Korean or Hebrew, but it's vaguely like it.

There's part of an ad for renting pianos, for around $9 a week. And there's an article title, "skimpy suits". I'm not sure what that bird is doing there near the N in "Neighborhood".

Then there's the flowers in the jar. They appear to be dried flowers of the kind that were very popular in the 1970s, strawflowers and baby's breath.

Then there are the beautiful pieces of fruit appropriate for July on a white plate, the window and the yellow scene beyond. And I think the signature is M. Rhodes. On the back, on the torn fragile Kraft paper is the name of the frame shop that operated in Reno, NV up until 2004.

I haven't found anything likely about M. Rhodes on the web.

I think they might be two pre-school aged brothers. I like the slide in the background of the bigger boy. It has wood slats. The little boy has white high-top soft leather baby shoes.

Bought these in a thrift store. Not names or identifiers on the backs.

I bought this at a thrift store today because it intrigued me.

I can't place the style into a decade. I tried to do a google AI search and it was all wrong, attributing it to "Richard Tuck", but this is just signed "Tuck".

The designs on the bowl are kind of 1950s, but not really. The colors don't fit anything I can think of. The signature could be 1980s, maybe very new. I think the pottery was very talented.
