Open Studies or Gap Year to Business

I'm in grade 12 right now and I got into business but now I'm stressed that I may not be able to keep my offer as the competitive average is really high. I would be falling 3.5%-4% below it. Because of this I'm starting to think of other pathways. On the phone the advisor mentioned that u of c can maybe put me in open studies if that does happen. However I'm pretty sure that if I do find out my offers been revoked that would be in mid August. That would be 2 weeks before classes would start. Wouldn't most classes be full by then? I'm not sure if it would be worth it. My other option is a gap year and I do believe I can get my average up by doing it but then again I feel like it maybe wasting a year? At least that's what people say. I'm not sure what's the right option. There's also the money part where its way cheaper to upgrade in high school than it is in university. If anyone has any idea on this please let me know. I'm planning on going in person to talk to advisors as well but I just wanted to hear from other people who have gone through open studies or taken up gap year.

So honestly, I’m not very good at math and I don’t really know most of the stuff from this course. I understand some of the really basic concepts, and I’m okay with using a calculator, but besides that I’m pretty lost. I only need about a 35% on the diploma. I was wondering how realistic it is to get that just from the multiple choice. Like, if I use educated guessing and maybe pick something like “C” for the ones I don’t know, plus use my calculator when I can. There are 24 multiple choice questions and I’d need to get around 14 right. For anyone who’s written it before, do you think that’s possible? I know they probably design the test so not everything can be solved with a calculator but are there at least some questions where it actually helps?
