Allergic to prawns/shrimp unless they are fresh?
Hi guys, just posting on here to ask if anyone knows why I would be allergic to prawns but only when they arent fresh.
I used to never be allergic to prawns but one day I ordered one of my favourite dishes at a Chinese restaurant which was their salt and pepper fried prawns and felt itchy inside of my mouth. Nothing severe just really irritating. From then on I noticed everytime I ate shrimp that wasnt fresh (tempura, fried rice, etc) the inside of my mouth would itch. What's strange is that when I eat them fresh straight from the fish market I feel completely fine. Moreover, this only happens with prawns and no other seafood, every other seafood I can eat regardless of their freshness.
It's really bothering me because I love prawns but they usually aren't fresh in most restaurant dishes.
