Help from someone experienced
Hi guys, so I’m building some studio monitors. I’ve bought the Purifi PTT6.5 woofers, and some beryllium dome tweeters in the £450 region each.. and some 8” SB acoustics oval passive radiators. @
The plan is so do a dyed concrete aggregate and copper chipping cast cabinet (polished smooth). The form mould is going to be plywood. But after spending a lot of money getting to this point, I realised the crossover and amp section is going to be really expensive.
Initially I wanted to go down the route of active DSP plate amplifiers - But the hypex ones I was looking at are waaaay too expensive for me to justify buying. I don’t mind going passive but I feel like I’m going to be really shooting in the dark with the crossover, phase relationships of the tweeter and woofer - plus I don’t want to accidentally blow the tweeters (god forbid). I already own Event Opal’s, which are incredible speakers - I just wanted to see how closely I could get them to this tier of build on my own and the polished concrete cabinet will look lovely, be inert etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
