Personally taking a student to admin week 1

So this is the beginning of my 2nd year of teaching. I teach secondary. I had a kid who was constantly trying to undermine my management for the first 2 classes, so what I’m thinking of doing tomorrow is, since she left something in my class I’m taking it to her personally where her 1st period is. However, I’m also confronting her there for her behavior, and if things get bad I’m thinking of sending her to admin to change her classes to get her out. Elective class, which is why. Penny for thoughts?

“I’m Lazy”

I really don’t know why I’m letting this brat get to me, especially since it’s summer and I know this kid isn’t going to be in my class next year. I had a student last year who refused to participate because they were not willing to search for a material they needed to do my class. I didn’t really have the time to search for material for them (and it’s not supposed to be my job anyway), so the kid just sat there. By the end of the class, I was telling the kid they were lazy since they also decided to disrupt my class a smidge, only for that kid after class was done to try and tell it to their homeroom teacher, in an effort to get me in trouble….

The next class I had with them a week later, they were trying to use it against me to be disruptive and display their attitude. It was one of the last classes of the year and I just had to drown it out to teach...

The kids these days are anything other than alright…l

Orchestra Repair Check

So, I know this is not an orchestra thread, but as a former band hall rat who just survived year 1 of teaching orchestra (first job that opened up to me), I’m in the process of shutting it down for the year. I was wondering what all I need to be looking for when it comes to instrument repairs (how to find open seams, cracks in instruments to flag them for repair. That sort of thing) and resources on this.
