Stark reminder to wear proper riding pants
Was on a riding lesson today and everything was going fine as I was doing the practise manoeuvres for the riding exam.
Then I ended up veering at low speed a bit into the sandy border part of the practise area and my Kawasaki 650 immediately lost balance and buckled over to the left side taking me with it.
Luckily I was able to maintain myself atleast and not fall as the the bike fell but during this the left side of right shin made hard contact with the very hot engine.
Luckily I had spanking new biking pants on from the riding school so I didn’t take the brunt of the heat but the riding pants got burned through quite a few layers of fabric. If this had happened without proper biking pants on I would surely have had burnt through my jeans and ended up with a bad burn on my leg. Never thought about the fact that I could get burnt from the engine heat.
So far was kinda taking riding pants for granted as gear to buy but not anymore haha. Does anyone know how well riding jeans do against heat like this? Just curious if they are as good or not.
Anyway lesson learnt to not underestimate how important riding pants can be haha.
