How do fans of the national team feel about the team's potential for upcoming World Cup?
I am an American, but IDC you guys are my European team. Ever since World Cup 2018, I always had this feeling of enjoyment and appreciation to how you play football as someone who is still learning the game as a football fan over the years, are like those ultimate underdog teams in America or even european football, that I just want to see do well even though they have frustrating moments.
I have faith you guys will show you've literally done since 2006, but the team isn't like a France or Argentina that you can easily say everything will be easy.
Even with a group where many people think you can top the group, the team is older, never have been much in a position as a favorite, and worry about not having a Shaqiri/ Schar, especially Shaqiri.
I will say I do think this the best collection of talents up front even when Shaqiri was the main focal point.
Xhaka is still quality and one of most underrated in the world, he can play at a world class level, and might be only one of the NT to do that.
I just worry about the backline even if I love and still think Akanji will be great. I think Elvedi is solid as well, but I worry seeing someone like Rodriquez who might start, though I see that Zakaria might play as a centre back in a three back system?
I'm wondering too especially if Swiss meet expectations of making round of 16. I look at bracket and if Swiss make ti this far, your facing either a Portugal or Colombia.
We know what embarrassingly happened in 2022 and I felt one reason was Yakin running that three at back system.
I admit I'm not football expert like many especially dedicated and high IQ European football fans, but I feel if team have to face tougher competition, they need to play a very compact low block nd really sit back, like I felt you used to in the day.
I feel either a team like Portugal or Colombia will expose your team if you play this progressive high press style I feel you guys have played especially last Euros.
I feel slowing the game down and being efficient/ clinical on counters can work and still be more aggressive, but I just feel this team even arguably against some weaker teams with attacking talents with good pace, I feel you guys have to park the bus though that's just from my point of view.
No matter what your national team making World Cup every year since 2006 and countless Euros with many good runs has been an amazing ride and hope they can give us more, arguably one of the last with many of your top guys again out.
