Holton Alto Sax Info?
I was gifted this alto sax for my birthday. It is in rough shape and will obviously need tons of work to be playable. Is this a horn that would be worth trying to get fixed eventually? I am curious about the additional key on the right hand stack in between the F and E keys, I’ve never seen this on a saxophone before.
It came with an ancient metal mouthpiece marked “Goldbeck and Co - Superb - Chicago, ILL” and has a 3 on the side. Patented in February 1920!
There’s also this metal piece that fits in the neck receiver. I’m not sure if this has a function besides maybe protection, because it isn’t covered like a cap but the neck doesn’t fit into it and won’t fit the case when it’s on the saxophone.
TIA
