How much is worth saving before having children?
Really hoping people can give me some constructive advice here! Please don’t tell me you’ll never feel ready etc
My partner (28M) and I (25F) have been together over 2 years, he’s starting to talk about wanting to get engaged etc, which I’m open to once I’ve finished my training pathway next year.
We both want children together a couple years after this but I’m acutely aware of the expenses and long term affect on my career arc etc, so he suggested he start saving towards it, even if it’s tiny amounts currently. I think this is a good idea.
So here is my question, how much do the parents on here wished they’d presaved before children? We both make around 40k each now, by the time we have kids in a few years he will be on 50k and I likely won’t work for at least the first year so would just be on SMP, savings and his shared income.
