I got my braces off almost 3 years ago and haven’t consistently worn my clear retainers in almost 2 years. I also don’t have the permanent wires.

Last time I tried putting them on, they hurt and I felt pressure in my front top teeth (a year ago). They didn’t completely fit, but I was able to put them on.
My teeth have shifted since but nothing drastic. I also noticed more spacing when I floss.

Should I force it and put them on? Can I put them in boiling water and try to get them to soften? Sudden pressure can be really bad for teeth so I’m not sure how to proceed smoothly..

Orthodontists think it’s a waste of money for me to get Invisalign or braces again, but the little shifting bothers me.
